I’m sorry to say OP, but Indian Bollywood music to me is 99% generic garbage. Other Indian music including classical and not related to movies is remarkably better.

IMO Bollywood has consumed a good portion of your music industry. Artists elsewhere and even in Pakistan make music because they have something to bring forth. Most Bollywood songs are produced in order to fill time and add to a film, they are usually not an art in its own right. How many of these songs are radio worthy or worth a damn without accompanying dance and video? Almost none I’d imagine.

Free your music industry from Bollywood and you’ll have quality music produced in scale. You also need a healthy music scene, it can’t exist as long as it’s there only for added spectacle to Bollywood films. My two cents.

How many of these songs are radio worthy or worth a damn without accompanying dance and video?

Until about ten years ago I used to listen to All India Radio's Vividh Bharati FM service and all the pre-1990's songs I know are because of Vividh Bharati. I will post two such radio-worthy songs :

1. 'Jaag Dil-e-Deewana'.

2. 'Jab Bhi Yeh Dil Udaas Hota Hai' as performed by Khalid Baig on the Pakistani channel Geo News.
