Mindset, awareness of law and the implementation of it on the ground. This article was disturbing, & I have heard of similar stories from some of the Indians that I have met. I am not implying that India is the only nation in the world where women get harassed & abused, but it's clear that this problem does exist, & it needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. A change in the mindset of the society must be brought about. Modifying the mindset of a society is a tedious & time consuming task, it might even take years to yield positive results from such efforts.
Both the men & women need to be educated regarding their rights, especially the women. I can not stress this enough, but education is the key to abolishing such societal ills. Strict enforcement of law & order is another requirement, but the law enforcement may not always be able to arrive on time to save an individual from abuse. It's the job of the society at large to protect the honor & dignity of all women. I remember hearing that women were or still are offered self-defence classes in Egypt so that they may be prepared to defend themselves against an attacker. Perhaps India & other countries facing similar problems should try & offer self-defence classes for women.
Parents & schools need to play their roles for getting rid of this problem too, remember that both of these elements are responsible for shaping an individual's beliefs early on in his or her's life. The parents & teachers must take on the responsibility to raise kids in an environment where abuse may never be tolerated. By doing so, as those kids grow up; they will never be able to bear seeing any female get abused, & are more likely to come to her aid.
Remember, women must be a source of inspiration & civilization, they must never be allowed to become the objects of ridicule or abuse. A nation can only survive & prosper if both the men & women are united & support each other.
Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!! come again??????Pesky french/australian covering up his racist attitude with crimes in india....what a shame for a white supremacist that he has to fall down to such low levels just for covering up...I have to agree India is a disgrace when it comes to the treatment of women, Indian men here in Australia do the same things and end up getting bashed etc and then blame it on racism. India is one of the most unsafe places on earth for women.

And a bangladeshi agrees who calls taslima nasreen as B-word in other thread in the holy month of Ramdan and present the world with fine example of a gutter mouth "muslim." I feel shame to call them muslim to put mud on the good muslims.Well said...
untill men have their superiority complex over women their will be crime against women in any society and any culture.Changing man is like putting a dog's tail in a pipe for 12 yrs and even after that it remains the same.We must all strive to raise level of awareness in South Asia against female abuse and subjugation. Women's rights must be respected and laws enacted to prosecute perpetrators commiting crimes against women.
May Allah(Swt) blessing be on this man for bring out the problems in india and their solution through his unique idea on tv.
And you want to use pakistani women for ur idiocy.better do something good at home.Sponsor a girl child at least. How many times are we going to post this news? It is shameful yes, but also ironic coming from a Pakistani, given Pakistan fares even worse or just as bad in almost of all of these areas.
yes you should hang your head in shame for this low-level post of yours. So yes lets both hang our head in shame and try to sort our own house instead of taking pot shots on the interwebs.
