Fossil fuel, the hydro carbons made through conversion of fossils will run out. Because there were only a finite amount of fossils buried under the sediment. But hydro carbons through other means may never run out as the OP says.
A matter of nuances that had to be cleared.
Fossil fuels will never run out. Consider this. There are 800 billion tons of carbon in the air. There are 10,000 billion tons of carbon in fossil fuels. The amount of carbon on Earth is enormous and dwarfs Earth's iron ore reserves. Not in thousands of years will fossil fuels run out.
