Why Donald Trump can't bully China on trade

If you are implying Trump is a madman i would suggest you take a closer look at him before judging him too hasty. We are still waiting for the 40% import tax to take place so give it some time and see what happens. It's not the first time he is crawling back on his promises which is evident in his first month at the Office. So while @ultron brags about US military superiority over China which in his opinion just woke up from the Ice Age he doesn't seem to have a clue that the US needs China for trade. Does he even know we already grabbed them by the balls with the T-bills?

Never I said it's was Trump...

Look don't need to jump with an historical wiki quote. The reality is that US need China As much China need the US.

No you haven't but you did imply some mad US president (be it Trump or future POTUS), a trade war is not in America's interest.

Don't forget https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight-Nation_Alliance

China has no jet engine technology. So don't get too cocky.

LOL Yes we know US is a coward by now, America only dare invade a country by summoning her allies as we have seen in Iraq, Afghanistan and other wars. That is why i don't understand why you brag about US superiority.

That's why I said "madness". Madness do not take into account the "other" guys/state/entity. It's driven by ego and stupidity.

From the Office of the US Trade Representative:

U.S. goods and services trade with China totaled an estimated $659.4 billion in 2015. Exports were $161.6 billion; imports were $497.8 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with China was $336.2 billion in 2015.

2015 numbers, of course. And a lot of that trade surplus China has goes back into US in the form of investment, and 2016 was a banner year for Chinese investment in US:

Chinese investments in the U.S. hit an all-time high this year, surging 359% from the year before. But don't expect a repeat performance in 2017. Thanks to growing U.S. protectionism and stricter Chinese capital controls, the flood of capital from China could slow down.

According to Mergermarket, Chinese companies invested $53.9 billion in the U.S. via 75 deals during the year (as of Dec. 12). Compare that to a year ago when Chinese investments in the U.S. totaled $11.7 billion. The steep increase in investments from China has stoked concerns about national security.

In essence, both countries will lose mightily if there's a trade war. Neither country wants it, not even Trump and his bellicose statements aside. He will eventually sober up to the reality and have a more realistic approach.

what's the difference then? Ego and stupidity are traits of a human. Only a mad POTUS would want a trade war with China so that's not gonna happen period.

Meh. Money is just a digital number in a digital computer these days. The US types a number on a keyboard, and Chinese have to work long and hard. THAT is dominance.

Well Europe said the same in 1938... Same as US said to USSR in 1950... You don't know the Future, anything can happen

That is why i asked whether you were implying Trump or any future POTUS will be that madman? If nothing is certain like what you just said then why just make that previous statement #16 ?
