Why does the UK give aid to India?

.
But not more than Pakistan with 40% and increasing poverty?

Economy of Pakistan: Statistics reveal stunning increase in poverty

You guys are funny. Seriously.

I discussed this with you few days ago that these numbers are fudged. Yet here you are at it again. I guess some will try to forward the lies to those who don't know it's a lie.

No my question is, do you refute it's credibility ?

Let's turn this around. YOU deny that it's credible, so therefore you should stop taking the article around and posting it as a fact.

.
Additionally, I want to point out there's a single website reporting this 40% figure (all others are using this article). Generally in such news reports, it gets covered by a large number of websites. Which probably explains it further that these numbers are fudged.

Interesting how this was supposed to be a thread about British aid to india yet has turned into a topic about Pakistans poverty.

indian trolling at its finest :pakistan:

It's a very typical diversion method used. They frequently start topics that show negative things in Pakistan, yet if anything does that to India, they either divert by posting things about other countries, and/or say that the thread starter should worry about their own country. Some seriously insecure stuff I see.

Well said. Whenever someone starts a topic about india, indian members will abuse you, bring in Pakistan, abuse Pakistan, etc. Yet they have no trouble in poking their noses into threads that deal with Pakistan's internal affairs ( just look at the Shahbaz Bhatti thread). The double standards used by these people is astonishing :disagree:

I should point out that not all Indians are like this, but it is very common.

It happens when Pakistanis go from discussing the topic to taking cheap shots at India. When you throw dirt at someone, be prepared to receive the same. And this practice is not restricted to Indians.

I believe UK is giving aid directly to NGO not to GOI.

For pakistan, it is different, thats way they have Kerry-Lugard bill. I am surprised to know that pakistan has 40% proverty.

^ Well to clear your surprise, you'll be glad to hear that the 40% figure has been fabricated to discredit the previous government.

I don't believe those are fabricated. If they were fabricated, then figure would have been 60or 70%.

.
You do realize that it has been established that these figures are fabricated? A figure of 60-70% would make it really obvious for anyone to see the fabrication.

.
Isn't this ironic or shall we call it typical Indian mindset, suddenly the Pakistani Media is proving a credible source for you people. Let's forget that Pakistan is at a war footing and other discrepancies, Pakistan is still mentioned in the same context as say, Egypt and Turkey while it's India which is being compared with the sub Saharan states. You also need to be reminded that It's none other than India who is getting an ear bashing from the world media.

What a comfort for you! A media articles mentions you "in the same context as say, Egypt and Turkey" while "it's India which is being compared with the sub Saharan states" and it suddenly makes the 40% (and increasing) poverty rate irrelevant?

India has been on a different growth trajectory for more than two decades and you guys are still stuck in old mindsets.

Frankly, this is the last hurrah for some of you who still compare yourself with India. We have nothing to so with you on these issues. We are in a different league.

How has it been established?

Frankly, I personally won't derive any pleasure out of Pakistanis' or any human being poverty. If it is less, it is better.

My post was only to show mirror to some people who are so obsessed about India's poverty that they don't see their own or their lower HDI rank.

How has it been established?

It was discussed a while back in the economic forum. There was an article on this as well.

In addition to that, they're suggesting that poverty went up by around 19% (from 17% to 36%) in just around 6-8 months. The 17% figure was endorsed by World Bank, whereas these figures weren't - it came from a panel employed by PPP government.

So you're another one with double standards - Pakistanis should not post about India's problems but Indians should be free to post about Pakistan's problem. This is the hypocrisy that some of you guys show. Indians all the time post about Pakistan's problems, but my word if someone posts about India's problems, there's almost like a big campaign to either divert from the topic and/or tell others to worry about their own issues. Why don't you take your own advice too, then? Worry about the problems in your own country. It's not like people in your country are living a much better life.
