why do we mix english words in urdu language

You are wrong in your thinking. I used to think the same thing.

Even after WWII Germany was a developed nation, they had all the resources they needed, and their blueprint plans for Germany had still survived. Pakistan is a poor nation, doesnt even have technology nor government to utilize its vast resources.

Did you even see the photographs of Germany after the way....they had literally been bombed back to the Stone-Age & had next to nothing; all their major factories & foundries were destroyed, their schools, colleges & universities were destroyed, so many of their academics & professionals were dead & yet they persevered & built themselves back up piece by piece not like us who gave up all the momentum we had in the beginning to petty politicking, corruption, nepotism & the decadence of our ruling & military elite alike.

@Armstrong , you should grab yourself a copy of the Shah Nameh Firdausi, it is excellent and some versions available from Urdu Bazzar have Persian/Urdu translation. Perhaps that could get you started. Or anytime you are in the area, you are welcome to my cousins in D.I Khan.

Another good option is Saeed Book Bank in Islamabad, it actually has a copy of the Rosetta Stone Software to teach Dari/Farsi and a few other languages. See if it is still available.

Sometimes you will have to because English language has greater vocabulary than Urdu, Urdu cannot match English word for word, and many scientific, technical, medical, etc terms are found in English and not in Urdu (because there may not be a translated Urdu word available). Though for people who are having casual conversation and mix English with Urdu it could because their grasp of Urdu is weak and compensate their weakness with English language.

Yes I did buy the Rosetta Stone Software & tried to listen to it but something about the monotonous way in which it all went made the proverbial winds go out of my sails !

there are even many roman words used in scientific english language, and same is used else where, but the basic words in urdu house hold terms should be used, and not the common english words, i mean if you wanna use the english words than speak english properly but i dont get mixing urdu with english

I told you the mixing of Urdu and English could be done because it could be the speaker has a weakness in their Urdu vocabulary and hence compensate the weakness with English vocabulary, that is one explanation. Other could be bad habit.

Photograps do not show a countries state correctly.

Most of Germany's highways, buildings had survived. They were in a much better position post-WWII then the South Asian nations today,

I remember when I went to Karachi the last time out & when I was in an apartment complex searching for a relative's apartment I asked a guy who lived there where such & such an address was & he replied something to the effect of 'zaraaa zeeeneiii teiii kar ke jayeiiii' & I'm like 'the fOok does that mean' it was only after bumping into my relative fortuitously was I able to understand that the guy asked me to 'go upstairs' in prim & proper Urdu !

Tum ne bola to nahee hai lekin hindi geographic channel se urdu bigar jaty hai. Raja rental gaya supreme court wahan urdu mein hindi mix ker ke bol raha tha chief Justice ke samne.

Do I like to mix English into urdu? No, but I do it out of necessity because my urdu is weak and nobody bothered to teach me everything about urdu. As for Punjabis butchering the English language like measure becomes meeysure I do not know which Punjabis you guys are talking about. My father never butchered any English words in such a way, although there is some pronunciation thing where I have heard some Pakistanis here calling the letter Z, zed or the letter H, Ech. What is up with that?

I think its mostly due to what our parents learnt in Pakistani schools, the English alphabet

About the letter Z in America they say Zee but in UK they say zed, its American english and British English difference only.
