What's new

Why do Indian media seledom disclose land acquisition issues while Chinese media do?

the difference is :

In China, nearly all peasants have land. If peasant A has no time to cultivate and thus he lease the land to peasant B.

In India, many peasants have no land, and they have to lease land from landlords or other peasants.
In China no body owns land. Land is collectively cultivated. In India land is a private property. Obviously if you sell your land you wont have land to cultivate.

Yes, Indian peasant have to right to suicide.
Yes. But nobody forces them to kill themselves.

China’s Over 100 Million Landless Peasants

Land leasing is a global phenomenon.I'm surprised and mildly amused to see that you are talking about it as if you came to know about it only yesterday.

so it is interesting.

Chinese peasants don't own land, but they can lease their land to others. They can also pass their land down to their offsprings. And most importantly, they have land to cultivate.

In India, many peasants simply have no land and have to lease from other landlords or peasants.

Interesting

in China, land leases are also common.

Those landless peasants don't farm anymore, they have been migrant workers or businessmen, so in realty, they are not peasants anymore.
But in India, many landless peasants have to farm to survive.

How does a peasant/farmer go about the same job he has been doing and yet not be a farmer ? Your English leaves much to be desired.

dude, in China, the meaning of peasant means he has a residence identity in the rural area, it doesn't mean they are farming.
Actually, majority of Chinese peasants are not farming. They are working in the cities, or doing business in rural areas. Many of them lease land to other ppl or companies, while the rest of them simply leave land being unused (they don't bother to lease the land or no one lease the land from them).

There are many word in China are very different from its english name.
for example, cities in China include rural areas, do you know that? a Chinese city are actually a region which includes a lot of cities and villages in other countries.

Yeah, one of the advantages of having a big country I guess, lots of land.
I had been to China in a short trip recently, related to my family business.
Anyways, heres a question for you that I have been wanting to ask, "Can people privately hold land in China ?. If yes, then what is the upper limit for private land ?"

I don't know what do you mean "hold"
peasants have their land. if the govt, companies or other ppl want to use that land, they need to lease or buy the land
peasants can pass down the land to their offsprings.
there seems no law on upper limit of land held by ppl

I think you are wrong. People in China do not own land & cannot sell it.

. .
then how can they become overnight millionaires when govt or companies acquire the land
They get compensation from government for giving up land. That does not mean you have ownership right or right to sell. There is a difference. In China people give up their usage right of land to government at a rate decided by government. Government in turn lease them to companies. People in China cannot deal directly with companies to sell land. In India you own the land and can sell it any time at any price to anyone. You are confusing compensation with ownership rights.

so what, when I have usage of the land, I can pass it down to my offsprings, I can get compensation when I give it up, I can use it for farming, for building houses, why do I need to own it?

the price is decided by negotiation.

You need to own land to unlock its full potential. For example you can mortgage your land and get loan if you own the land. You can sell it to the highest bidder without any restrictions.

Yes. But nobody forces them to kill themselves.

You're talking to the deaf. In the end, you look like a fool, the deaf will never hear you so why try?

.
Indian peasants....They are either suffering with tiny food and no toilet/clean water/electricity in the countryside or they are forced to lose their land with no compensation and then dwell in numerous slums in the city.
That is how supa powa works.
