Why did the US back the coup against Pakistan's PM Imran Khan?

The funniest part is that people are still parroting the Trump Administration's CIA talking points (largely based on Indian talking points).

They don't even understand that the talking points have changed since the Biden Administration came into power.
The policy remains the same and, in fact, has been so since the 1960's. Color revolution was conceptualized in the 1960's and has been used a dozen times. So, what talking points? Just the talking heads are different.

Not sure why people just disregard Pakistan history form 1983 to 2022 when PMLN never lost an election in central punajb

USA Didn't do the coup because it didn't need to. Army just asked and USA said fine go ahead

Army thought people will be happy with it..but inflation got out of control due to rapid destabilizing of the economy, sudden drop in remittances and exports and freezing of foreign investment due to bad name ishaq dar has.

Infact if India says today ishaq dar will be FM you will see a similar crash because everyone will worry about ishaq dar printing billion of rupees destroying exports and running two separate exchanges rates

Pakistan has a debt problem but not a debt to China problem. China is not the biggest Pakistan’s debtor.

CPEC is a good initiative overall. What it needs is better transparency.

Debt is not a problem if used properly. In Pakistan’s case its politicians take a huge haircut and then the cost is passed on to the public to bear.

The dysfunctional democracy (if it exists) and military’s supra constitutional role makes matter worse in terms of no accountability or rule of law.

PTI were trying to correct the balance between civilian and military but then they were overthrown.

The US did not execute the regime change. As I said earlier, its the Pakistani establishment and the corrupt colluded with each other who executed it for their own reasons. And now here we are.
Imran Khan was a Trump Administration appointee.

He came into power through a CIA regime change operation surrounding the Panama Papers.

That's why Imran Khan's regime stalled CPEC and replaced it with absolutely nothing other than more import consumption subsidies, direct and indirect.

The Biden Administration's talking points surround selectively defaulting on Chinese debt, so we will see if PML(N) [Presumably the next leaders after the interim government possibly does the hard unpopular reforms first] will act along those lines or if they will have the independence to do what they were planning on doing anyways had they been allowed to stay in power.

It should be noted that the U.S. never actually liked Nawaz Sharif, which is why they did a regime change operation against him so many times.

This gives me hope that Nawaz Sharif will be more independent of U.S. influence.

so wat all this may suggest is US got chinese approval to remove IK

Any country that seeks to 'help' another country will only do that if their agenda is aligned or to align their agenda.

in case of democracies, the agenda is to achieve peace, global betterment and human rights.
in case of China it is for better investment returns of their surplus dollars.

For example USA 'helped' Pakistan to fight terrorists.
China 'helped' Pakistan to blindly sign up for CPEC that has bankrupted Pakistan
It's the white money that bankrupted Pakistan, Stupid. IMF has lended money to dozens of 3rd-world countries since its founding. Has any 3rd-world country benefited from IMF and broke free from poverty and American leeching? NO. They are still poor and worse and getting sucked of their labors and blood anytime Fed raised interests. They get a piece of paper printed by the US government for their labors and their minerals. The American masters taught them to sing Kumbaya and patted them on the heads. Some on the shoulders.

Imran Khan was so incompetent he rubbed the Afghan debacle in the U.S.'s faces in the most retarded way possible.

That is what led to his downfall.

The Ukraine thing was just a convenient excuse.

The U.S. doesn't consult China on the decisions it makes regarding the U.S.'s vassal states, lmfao.

the worse part is the whites then accept these corrupt venal goons with open arms

so the whites pretty much get all their donated money back along with the chinese donated money too

The problem is Pakistani people allow the US meddle in their affairs, tell them what to do, what to eat, they are worthy or not as American partners... I could recall when Pakistan diplomats asked China for help, Beijing said they'll lend their support to Pakistan if a foreign power meddles in Pakistan's internal affairs. Many Paks on this forum angrily roared: "We don't want China to interfere, we can handle the matter ourselves, etc." But when it was cleared the US executed a regime change (Donald Lu was frank expressing Washington's desire telling a Pak diplomat), these same Paks didn't say anything or fart even a bubble.

Why is it? I find this very interesting with a lot of 3rd-world countries including Bangladesh, Argentina, etc. Do these former colonized countries believe only the whites can tell them what to do and only the whites' words are acceptable?

Unlike countries like China, Turkey, and Algeria where people actually laid their lived on the line and had the will to decolonize and gain independence from imperialists, Pakistan never had anything like that and essentially received everything on a silver platter from imperialists. There's only one place that fought to be with Pakistan to avoid oppressive Hindu rule and that was in the princely state of Kashmir.

One thing you have to know about Pakistanis is that the people blow a lot of hot air, but don't really do anything. From the Kashmir issue a lot of hot air was blown but nothing got done, in fact the Army sold it out to India.

It is also why CPEC and Chinese investments have taken very long to materialize unlike in West Africa and Latin America. A couple of years ago you would see and hear people say how CPEC is essentially a "game changer" and Gwadar was also a "game changer", but its been 8 years since the Belt and Road Initiative has started and 16 years since the Gwadar plan was established and NOTHING has materialized.

Pakistan will always remain a failed state due to its weak foundation and oxymoronic national identity.

"Our boys have done it" - President Jimmy Carter following the coup in Turkey in 1980. It was the worst coup in the Turkish history. About 5 to 10K folks were killed via kangaroo trials. Over a million were illegally interned.

It took 70 (1946 to 2016) years for the Turkish folks to get rid of the Pentagon backed military tutelage.....

A non-linear awakening process, similar to what unfolded in Turkey over the years, has started in Pak by HIS PERMISSION...

So, Sabr and Shukr with the constant Mujadele....

HIS RAHMET wins over HIS AZAB for the Muslims....

Turkey has a history of fighting for its sovereignty. Pakistan was never sovereign in the first place.

don't try to obfuscate and defend what is patently obvious.

in 10 years of CPEC Pakistan has gone growing economy to a bankrupt nation. The single biggest difference was CPEC = Crush Pakistan Expand China. Under the guise of 'helping' Pakistan, CCP has put a noose around Pakistani people with project fees, encumbered financing and guaranteed return contracts. Very smart of CCP and very sad for Pakistani

All the ill-informed posts on this forum seem to pretend that Nawaz Sharif is somehow Washington's favorite or something.

Literally all the U.S. backed coups during his time were EXPLICITLY AGAINST NAWAZ SHARIF.

Musharraf was 100% backed by the U.S. explicitly against Nawaz Sharif.

Imran Khan was 100% backed by the U.S. explicitly against Nawaz Sharif to kill CPEC.

Nawaz Sharif is why Pakistan has nukes.

The forum pretends that Imran Khan, the entirely Pakistani Military Establishment created figure that was trotted out to destroy CPEC for the Trump Administration is somehow any kind of symbol of democracy when Nawaz Sharif has defied the Pakistani Military Establishment AND the western powers every single time he has been in office.

Disagree here
They simply gave their blessings

The coup was by army with help of elected people

Anyone who went to Lahore knows Khan had zero support in 2022 in the street because people use to say inflation at 10% is bad and we wAnt 3-4 inflation of 2015-2017 which was primary due to money from CSF in exchange for Pakistanis in KP being blown to pieces in drones lead by false intelligence by pak army

People were okay with it

Didn't we all hear "khata hey tu lagata be hey"

The only reason why people aren't happy with PDM is inflation

Fix that and people will vote back for PMLN

you are absolutely wrong here with the year you're quoting.

and this slogan it was given by PMLN and people illiterate enough to shove it up took it.

young generation from the same families part their ways to follow IK.

this was the reason when SS recently was giving away laptops and we saw students on social media sharing their videos and pictures with their favors to the other camp.

in Lahore situation now is very strange, even if you talk to a die hard follower of PMLN, he will keep quite instead of supporting their leaders.

The U.S. decides to change Pakistan's foreign policy for it, and people latch onto the U.S. puppet leader Imran Khan in "protest".

English speaking countries are clearly a lost cause.

They all simply do whatever the U.S. tells them to do.
