I mean look at Commonwealth games and now Asian games. Bangladesh performance is really disappointing with the country of population above 15 crore. They haven't won a single gold medal in commonwealth games and still no medal in asian games.

Its not the matter of population ... tallent is every where....

a lot depend on facilities..

Also training and nurturing at grass root level is also important. A lot of countries with poorer facilities perform better than south asian countries.

No investment.
There is a concept here that the government money only should go to the poor.

allocations for sports is very limited over here except few, such as cricket. And no foreign or specialist coaches are positioned on the required fields.

Shame may not be a word that can be found in the Bengali dictionary. We are shameless so we cannot perform well or better than other countries. Then the defeated team will come back to tell us the ground was no good, the wind was too dry or too hot, umpire was no good etc. etc. What can be expected out of these players, atheletes and their managers.

Mach Bhaat keye er cheye besi kichu kora jabe na..Same with West Bengal..We should focus on games where less physical stamina is required like billiards, table tennis, cricket, Archery etc.

.
West Bengal's players have dominated and still dominates the football scene in India which requires stamina, hard work as well as skill.

India and Pakistan arent doing any better. I dont care much for the medals India has got yet...I dont see India finishing 2nd/3rd in medals table before 2014-2018.

This is one area where South Asia should collaborate without nitpicking.

yes Pakistan, India & Srilanka even they are not performing upto the mark expect the first two atleast managed to get on the medal table in Asian Games. Shame should be the correct word.

I would say..other teams from Goa are giving tough competition...Bengal's main advantage still remians the crazy crowd support..skill wise..goans are no less today.

Yes Goans giving tough competition these days, Punjab also. Is JCT still surviving? I remember one particular characteristic of that club was that they always made team of only Punjabi players.

And don't forget the North Easterns!

Internal problems can be an issue too. Pakistan's cricketing performance usually reflects its political performance as well.

The main reason is lack of facilities and knowledge and encouragement. In developed nations people can choose to do what they like at a very young age, and the governments and various institutes are fully supportive of them. Athletes can enjoy a decent lifestyle and sometimes even stardom.

In developing countries like India, sports is not even considered as a career option unless it is cricket. Children from middle class or lower income groups do not even get exposure to the sports they might be good at. National Hockey players are forced to use second class facilities and paid less than what BPO employees get. So forget training and nutrition, survival itself is a task for them.

There is talent everywhere. It was proven recently at the CWG when 4 or 5 cousins from the same village in India qualified for the respective events and even won medals (2 golds IIRC), because their father was supportive of them and trained them diligently for the games.

didnt hear about JCT much these days....but thats info is wrong..though most of them were Punjabis..recenty there have been transfers from other clubs as well.

about north easterns..they are naturally gifted players..almost all of them...soccer skill comes naturally to them..just like bengalis. I remember when I used to play for my school..half of our team was from students from darjeeling or , of north east origin..and we never lost a match then.
