This woman in the video was completely baffled as to what you are supposed to do at the 3D barcode since seeing these things on a payscreen is unusual. She is used to a screen showing the total and asking you to make the payment which 99.999% of the time never involves a 3D barcode since people are used to "tap-to-pay" with their phone or credit card readers.

China is a full cashless society and most of the west is not, the tech exists in the west but not as widely used as in China, the last time I used cash was years ago, this is the difference.

People have been using mostly cashless since the mid 1990's when paychecks became electronic by companies like ADP and online banking became common. Commercial business then switched to using bankcards and the ATM's started dying.

The only place that was the last holdout were parking meters.

Everybody in the US has been using cards since the early 1990's.
Maybe they are more amazed that people use their phones more than cards in China...not that it is cashless.
