Who says Israel isn't getting help from the West? That includes massive monetary, technological and other assistance. I personally know that Israel receives massive help from various Dutch companies in many sectors. Iran has been sanctioned massively unlike Israel which receives enormous assistance from the West. I would call Iranian development incredible given the circumstances. They have certainly displayed ability despite outside pressure.

Population is not everything. By your logic India should be more advanced than US.
Iran was under the most severe sanctions in history of this planet, if they were not, and were given aid and technology/knowledge etc like Israel is then you would have been dwarfed by Iran. But even despite that, we can see Israel is seriously worried over Iran's increasing prowess in various fields.

Just to show Israel the big Gun in this thread, rest of Middle East is fighting stupid wars created by Mossad and CIA. So they have no time for a space technology program. Iran is the only other country in Middle East which is investing in space technology and programs.

I am not talking about just satellites am I? I am talking about space program as a whole. As @SOHEIL said, Israel is not even an independent nation in this sector, They rely heavily on the outside and their space program is not even properly active as their only activity seems to be having the likes of space X to launch their sats. .

The only way to see if they can really proceed their current progress or not is putting them in the same situation that Iran has been for decades ... to be forced even design and manufacture apparatus and devises you need to start your essay and study is one thing (due to sanction Iranian can not import such a devises like TEM, STEM and ...or study in high tech majors) and producing knowledge is another thing while getting technological, scientific , financial and military aid by israel from outside and having access to western knowledge would pave the path for everyone which is one of the main reasons behind israel progress ..

Let me know when they manage to actually launch a satellite into space without paying someone else to do it for them. Almost everything you see by them is actually done by foreigners. "Lead the middle east race", with a nonsense.

I am very interested in the development of the space sector. Out of all the middle eastern nations, which do you think possesses the most advanced and ambitious space program which they are working on independently. Please don't just give a name of a country, also back it with why you have chosen that particular nation. I am hoping to learn more about the activities of the nations in this region. As I said, please only include indigenous/independent programs. I am not interested in programs involving paying other nations to have their satellites launched etc. I am interested in indigenous satellite, SLV, manned unmanned etc development. Thank you.

I backed my claim very well.

* Israel has 10 operational modern satellites all Israeli made 4 launched by Israel.
* Iran does not have any operational satellite at all.


* Israel satellite launcher with 400 kg capability to LEO.
* Iran can launch only 50 kg satellites which can last only 1-2 months on orbit.

Thus Iran not even close to Israel. Sorry to say.

There is no any Western launcher similar to Israeli Shavit. There is no any western satellites similar to Israeli Ofeqs.

On the other hand Iranian Safir space launcher is nothing but North Korean Rodong with additional stage instead of warhead, which is enlarged Soviet Scud.
