I think that going from the 2nd richest country in Asia right after WWII to one of the poorest today shows that the Philippines is a highly incompetent, if not stupid, country. Myanmar is another country gifted with immense resources and a strategic location that has squandered it all and become a complete basket case. In both instances, I'm not sure if the cause is stupid people or a stupid government, but most likely both factors are to blame.
