I live in Karachi and i hardly found anyone who dont drink....:undecided:
Where in Karachi do you live? Or is this a joke on drinking water? No one drinks here, at least, no one admits to it.

You need to realize that the majority of Pakistanis are not middle class alcohol drinking people.

I used to think the same way as you do.
I would say middle class don't drink either. Only the very top of the upper class, and even then, not all of them, many are devout Muslims (At least in Karachi, no idea about Punjab)

Man, to be honest majority of Pakistanis prefer good food over any drugs. Just my personal observation.
Biryani is life. Why drink when you can have more Biryani?

Which Asian Country Drinks Most?

Which Asian country drinks most? Which Asian countries are the most sober? Some Asian countries have people who love to drink, while people in other Asian nations cannot even finish a bottle of wine in a year. (Asia News Network)

NEW DELHI – In some Asian countries, people drink a lot. In others, people cannot even finish a glass.

People in South Korea were the most prolific drinkers in Asia, according to the WHO. On average, South Koreans, over the age of 15, drink 10.9 liters of alcohol a year.

South Koreans drink copious amounts of alcohol so much so that no other country came close to their per capita consumption. The reason for this unparalleled liquor consumption was ascribed to the country’s liking for Soju – the fermented rice drink.

Vietnam came in second to South Korea in alcohol consumption. The country was said to have seen a rising level of alcohol drinking. Thailand was at third place in Asia.

Meanwhile, Mongolia and China were at close fourth and fifth position in Asia, respectively. In China, the increasing alcohol consumption was attributed to their culture, as “drinking with colleagues is seen as vital to career advancement.”

Japan, which has been the so-called drinkers’ paradise, has seen a decline in alcohol consumption as it shared sixth place with Laos. Both countries have been found to have equal per capita consumption of alcohol.

Though ranked lower than other countries, Cambodia’s drinking habits are on the upswing.

As for the Philippines, its growing local breweries indicated that the drinking culture has seeped into the country amid increased urbanization.

Singapore has stringent laws for drinking, hence, the low alcohol consumption.

India was ranked 10th, and Sri Lanka was ranked 11th in alcohol consumption in Asia.

Nepal, meanwhile, remained one of Asia’s least drinking countries even if a high number of people in Nepal drink.

Bhutan, on the other hand, registered low alcohol consumption although drinking is an integral part of Bhutanese culture.

Most sober countries

Unsurprisingly, mostly Muslim states, where the sale and consumption of alcohol is restricted, were the most abstinent.

In Indonesia and Bangladesh, the average citizen drinks hardly a bottle of wine in a year. The lowest alcohol consumption was reported in Pakistan at nearly zero.

That really depends on the alcohol content in "Alcohol". Koreans drink Sojo with 17% alcohol, but Chinese drink "Baijiu" with 52% alcohol. For me, Korean Soju and Japanese Sake taste like water.

This is real stuff:

.
People here who are saying that in Pakistan they have seen people drinking a lot.. it's because their family and friend's circle mostly consists of drinkers..

I have met 5 drinkers in Karachi in my whole life.. out of 1000s of people..
Finally. Someone else like me. I know of 3 people who drink and even those were way back when I was in Beacon, upper class, politician's family crowd. No one drinks, and certainly don't see middle class people drinking and looking for prostitutes like someone mentioned lol. Almost like those people are living in different universes

lol you need to go out of your home and visit any wedding or parties hard drinks and weed is sooo common.
Weddings?

Weddings mei Sharaab? You mad?

I'm sure people drink in Defence Area, but unless you're strictly upper class, no one drinks. JM, Guthka, Naswar (For Pashtuns) and Paan are the drugs of choice

.
I've seen many empty bottles on Rwp footpaths in mornings I dont know why people throw bottles at footpath after drinking

In Pak Its actually considered a drug for fags.. Literally.. Called a faggot drug/addiction.

In Pak... Punjab they have illegal "breweries" chunning out homemade hard liquor...
In north.. They make peach wines and booze..

Than comes the dingbat shyt made by Christian bootleggers.. Sold dirt cheap
. Consumed by (really poor) .. Made of clinical alcohol and other chemicals... Which can be fatal and has killed hundreds in the past years..

Last year 22 Christians died due to its consumption in the same neighborhood..
