where we will store huge flow of water this year

water flow is huge and can only be control by big dams. our summer crops are in serious danger this time.

I know, I was being sarcastic. We will as always destroy our crops at the expense of poor farmers and our economy but will never learn.

I am from Muzafferabad Azad Kashmir and live just 10 meter away from where Neelum and Jehlum rivers are flown. 10 mint ago, I was on river side and happily surprised to see that this year we will get lot of water, As its mid of April only, and the water level in both rivers are already over flowing. As per current estimate our both major dams Mangla and Terbella will be full before 31th May this year.

Now the question is where we are going to store over flow water of June July August which are also called peak months for water flow. Can any one ever be held accountable/responsible for the loss of precious water????????

No 1. We Pakistanis have developed this habit of complaining. Not only we are fallen economically but also morally too... We want things such as dams and stuff and when someone try to make those we start disputes....
No 2. We have wasted a lot of time now there is no short term solution...
There are two ways to make dams, either by our own funding or by boot or forign investment. In azad kashmir and rest of pakistan people are ready to invest just see dasu, sukhi kinari, mohmand dam is in works but nobody is ready to fund dams in gilgit baltistan which is disputed area..
So for bhasha and other bunji, katzp dam we need to wait and allocate money from our budget as government has done and as economy Improves it is our job to force government to focus on dam rather then other things.
People need to change their mentality..

Terbella total cost was 1.5 billion dollar only. Perhaps we could have easily made Kalabagh Dam in 1990s in same cost but politicians ruin this dream of green revolution. Massive Flood of 1992 and 2010 and few others floods cost us more than 100 billion dollars so far

We have deserts fill them up over the years they will become pasture lands ...more agriculture, trees and wild life...
this will also raise the water table and the ground water that has been taken out over the years would be replenished

good idea but we need canals for that purpose and politicians hate canals as much as they hate big dams

We must act now, govt must start activating its institutions, cuz this time around due to heavy snowfall in winter coupled with more rains, danger of super flood has increased in summer (just like it happened in 2010), when rainy season starts in late june and start july, the rivers will be flowing full already, India will open flood gates, so chances of flood will increase many folds.

Better wakeup now than later. Currently We need flood canals or floodways to channel the flood water plus temporary water reservoirs (if possible) at urgent basis, work must be started now, at the earliest.

Rawalpindi dam was empty when I last passed it...maybe other water bodies also dried up?
