Where is Make in Pakistan?

Well said.

Sometime the need of the hour is jobs and these cannot be created overnight with your approach. It should be both " made in" and "make in" approach. You need to update the skill level of your youth in order to attract foreign investment in your country. Having right political climate, infrastructure, connectivity is also important to attract the funds. So,it is an ecosystem that needs to be nurtured.

you are right we have to have an ecosystem of manufacturing then innovations will follow along.

Micromax's Yu files for patents on hardware innovation

NEW DELHI: Micromax's subsidiary Yu Televentures has filed four patents on hardware innovation designed in-house and packed into its smartphone Yuphoria. The move comes at a time when the home-grown budget smartphone maker is moving towards building its own technology and offering services on top of devices even as it invests in startups.
Yu Televentures unveiled locally-designed Yuphoria for 6,999 on Tuesday. Priced lower than predecessor Yureka that came in at 8,999 in December last year, Yuphoria is set to counter offerings from Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and Huawei, and others that mostly compete on price.
"We're moving to becoming a technology company," Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax said. "We're not only interested in mobile phones. You will see a lot of interesting stuff."
To break into the top five smartphone brands in the country, Yu will have to up the ante as established companies such as Microsoft and local brands, including Intex and Lava, have launched devices in the affordable price segment.
The company's design labs in Bengaluru and Beijing have designed Yuphoria smartphone including the metal frame, which also works as an antenna, used for making and receiving calls and data. Sharma said the company has filed four patents for design and innovation of the antenna solution. "We will be developing more technology indigenously for which we will be filing more patents. A lot of products will be made in India," Sharma said.
He clarified that the company's decision to build its own technology and filing patents was not connected to the ongoing legal dispute with Ericsson on standard essential patents (SEP) used for making mobile phones.
To set itself apart from competition, Yu launched a health monitoring sensor called Health Yu at 4,999. The sensor can latch on to any device and record a person's blood pressure, body temperature, oxygen level, heart rate and ECG (electrocardiogram) in real time. It also launched a wearable device Yu Fit, priced at 999.
Micromax had a 15.3% share of the smartphone market and 12.2% of the overall market in India in the quarter to March, according to Counterpoint Research.
Sharma added that the company will continue to invest in startups in sectors of storage, security and entertainment. Last week, Micromax picked up stake in Bengaluru-based startup Healthifyme which specialises in offering mobile-focused services to motivate people towards healthy behaviour. The company plans to invest $0.5-$20 million each in about 20 startups. Yuphoria smartphone will be available only on Amazon, registrations begin on Wednesday.

Son I have experience in Automotive industry with functions like sourcing, quality and manufacturing .... I know more about CKD and vendor development than you or most members here.

Establishing a JV with 58% share in the company =!= 58% of work share ... your govt. and media lies to you.

Both are related....

Hahah tejas has more indigenous content like fly by wire , composits etc than all of Pakistani manufacturing industry combined.

The price for typing the truth.

Make in Pakistan is a success in the Terrorism sector ... they had ToT from Saudia and CIA and have now set up their ingenious assembly and design teams :P

Oops he just got banned,
I gotta say he expected.
I guess i didn't have to deal with this troll afterall.

Honestly, for all of India's push - the "make in India" thing is a great slogan but there has not been anything tangible achieved so far. And the biggest problem of course remains corruption at every level - from municipal corporation employees to corporate slaves - everyone wants a kickback. Unless this goes and 24x7 electric supply is there all over the country - mere sloganeering is not going to achieve much.

This.... Only realistic post till now on this thread.

Airtel launches “Made in India” HD set-top-boxes

Airtel Digital TV, the DTH arm of Bharti Airtel, Thursday launched its first indigenously manufactured HD set-top-boxes in the country, as it seeks to reduce its imports.OUR BUREAU | 16 July 2015, 4:00 PM ISTNew Delhi: Airtel Digital TV launched its locally manufactured set-top boxes on Thursday as it aims to reduce imports and help create jobs, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' Initiative.

The DTH arm of India's No. 1 telecom carrier is the first to offer set-top boxes manufactured locally. The high-definition devices are being made at a facility in Pune (Ranjangaon) by Airtel's partners MyBox Tech, a subsidiary of Hero Electronix, and ST Microelectronics.

The company hasn't shared the pricing of the India-made set-top boxes. Analysts said locally made set-top boxes would help companies offer them at competitive prices and reduce the need to buy them from vendors in China and Taiwan. Airtel's Digital TV services contributed Rs 24,759 million, or 4% of revenue in the year 2014-15.

The DTH arm of Airtel had over 10 million customers at the end of March. "With this, we aim to reduce our imports and thus help drive employment and growth within the country. In the long run, cost synergies will further help us extend more benefits to our customers," Shashi Arora, CEO, DTH/Media at Bharti Airtel, said in a statement.

The country has become an attractive alternative to China as a manufacturing base, with the government offering incentives such as capital subsidy and tax benefits. Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group, the contract manufacturer of products for Apple and Amazon, plans to make set-top boxes, TVs, tablets and batteries in India. Foxconn recently said it was in talks with Japan-based telecom and Internet major SoftBank Corp to form a joint venture for electronics manufacturing in India. It has started production of smartphones for China's Xiaomi and US-based InFocus.

"It is great that Airtel Digital TV is aligning itself with our Make in India vision as this will certainly pedal the fast gaining momentum of the initiative further," Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, said in the statement. The indigenous HD+ set-top box will offer full HD 1080p support, MPEG-4 video with Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound, 5X picture clarity, unlimited recording (via USB drive) and USB-based Wi-Fi connectivity for on-demand TV and gaming.

@ All the Indian Members who think that this is their chance to score some brownie points, please stop.

We have our own differences but I think we all will agree at one point, we have nothing against the Pakistani people.

It took a lot of courage for somebody to create this thread, especially in this forum, knowing fully well that he will be ridiculed in the most obnoxious manners by making a comparison with India. Try to take it in a positive spirit and contribute accordingly.

@proud_indian did you check the thread title ?
I'm also proud of my country, very much proud..But this is just the wrong thread..

Again same school ground childish games. Yes, Indians are mocking us, why? How many nations do you know puts priority on imports, loans and not on local industry? Idk any! Is it because the siysadan and ginerals won't get a cut if it is locally produced? F-16 deal went to the toilet because of the corrupt siysadan and ginerals. The dam in A.K is behind schedule because the ''machinery'' imported was done through corruption and over priced.

This is basic ecnomics to reduce imports and increase exports. We are constantly importing from tanks to food stuff. Why? Kickbacks.

Can you see a pattern? Imports deals are prone to corruption. But why? Every nation imports!

Once the johnny walker drinkers in power are gone, the country will progress.

Our teacher used to say, don't think people are stupid. Indians on this forum are not stupid to think the views on PDF are reflection of people of Pakistan. The ordinary people live on a day to day existence. No education, poor living and only the people in power the siysadan and ginerals are getting richer. Why?

Why don't you categorically list the problems in bullet points ? That will be better.

p.s. No bad words about Johnny Walker!! :P

Whats Adam Revo?

Adam Revo was a city car made by the now defunct Adam Motor Company of Pakistan. It was the first car to be designed and assembled in Pakistan.Production of this model stopped by September 2006 due to unavailability of funds and lack of government support.

The problem is that you have not allowed your industries to grow as you have been overly dependent on China and the US of A.
Yes and that Aid makes only 1% of our Budget that's so if only it arrives 100% which is not the case, so stop bitching.

Oh man! I can't believe your reply could be that stupid! What has aid got to do with indigenous research, design and manufacturing? Go get some education otherwise you'll keep posting rubbish.
