When a Russian fighter jet intercepts you!!!

How does it feel when someone flashes a gun at you under their coat on the subway???
P3 Orion got a taste of fright when a Russian flashed the underside of his plane.

Russian intercepts of Western signal intelligence aircraft isn't anything new. It's been happening going back to the Cold War, and there have even been minor diplomatic incidents over it. But this is a video of it actually happening with an Su-27 fighter jet and a Portuguese P-3 Orion, and it's incredibly tense.

While it's not unusual, in any sense, for a Russian jet to identify and escort a NATO plane skirting Russian airspace over the Baltic Sea, it is unusual for us to have such high quality video of it. Though it shouldn't be surprising, considering how many sensors the P-3 Orion that shot this video is bristling with. You would think a few cameras would be included in that bunch, anyways.

The Aviationist, which originally posted the video, notes that the Su-27 hits the airbrakes once it finally catches up to the slow-moving turboprop-powered P-3. Once it makes sure the Portuguese crew is aware of the situation, it peels off.

The message the fighter jet was intending to deliver is already received, loud and clear.

Interesting...... Especially when the fighter shows of its arsenal......

For some reasons the NATO love to publishing such videos of "interceptions".

Anyway, have some funny one:
Mistake (or maybe he did it on purpose?) of Norwegian pilot of F-16 almost led to aircrash.
(you can see that Mig-31 flying with air brake to lower speed).

and Su-34 flying near Netherlands with payload :-)

Anyway, it's normal situation and it's sad that the NATO chiefs use it for propaganda.

Could you translate what was being said in the first video. I watched it twice to understand what was going on. And towards the end the video zooms into some digits.what was it?? :)
I like the way the pilot of the Su-27 is operating his air brakes! :D
That was cool.
Like me?? :-)
Hehe...terminators scare me.

Exactly, it is Mig-31BM. The video was filmed by the Norwegian F-16 HUD.
Really???
I could not figure it out

IMHO, the pilot wasnt actually threatening the P-3C and that wasnt an actual aggressive display of weapons. It isnt that subtle. Showing off the weapons load would constitute an aggressive stance. The Su pilot was just maintaining his distance and sort of escorting the P-3C.

The RNoAF has released HUD (Head Up Display) footage, filmed by an F-16 of the 331 Sqn, based at Bodo, during the escort of a Russian Su-34 Fullback long-range strike planes on armed patrol off Finmark on Oct. 29.
This was the first time the Su-34s were observed and identified while flying in international airspace off Norway.
Although the video does not show it very clearly, according to Norway’s military as the F-16 was getting closer to the Su-34’s left wing, a Mig-31 that was escorting the Foxhound initiated a sudden maneuver, forcing the Norwegian interceptor to perform an evasive left turn to avoid a mid-air collision.
As said, the footage does not show the close call: all we can see is the F-16 roll to the left while approaching the Mig-31 (that appears to be flying more or less straight when it enters the HUD field of view). Nevertheless, Nowegian authorities said the video prove how dangerous and aggressive Russian pilots are during such close encounters that have become quite frequent in the Nordic region of Europe.
The Aviationist » Video allegedly shows Norwegian F-16 almost collide with Russian Mig-31 during Su-34 intercept mission
Two top guns came into very close contact when a Russian MiG-31 aircraft overtook a Norwegian F-16 fighter and cut practically in front of it, forcing the NATO pilot to veer away sharply.
The Russian jet passed the F-16 within a mere 20 meters, causing the Norwegian pilot to exclaim, “What the hell!” before darting away hastily.
The incident took place north of Norway over international waters, and the date is unknown.

Well yes the Russian pilot maintained a safe distance which is usually around 50-150m.And it’s pretty standard for the Russian Air Force to launch a fighter jet to identify and escort NATO surveillance planes.
But just a few months back Russian Su-27 Flanker, armed with 6 air-to-air missiles, intercepted one of Swedish ELINT jet (thats a spyplane) the distance between the two was just 10 meters.
Russian pilots 're known to be aggressive while intercepting specially with spyplanes. :)
And almost under similar circumstances a P-3B collided with a Russian su-27 somewhere in the late 80's.

The video was good, when the American pilots were trying to check telltale signs of any changes made to the bear, a guy sitting inside the bear greeted them and waved at the pilots. Lol
