When a Japanese Carrier escorts an American Carrier

The Japanese Archipelago consists of over 6,900 islands. And all of the islands are inhabited (except for around 400 which are uninhabited). For example, Japan has islands to our southern quadrant known as the Ogasawara Islands -- these are populated in the thousands per island.

I actually made a thread about this, please help yourself to explore it. :)

@As is - where is ,

If you juxtapose Japanese Maritime EEZ maps and our Ogasawara Islands --- you see how it makes sense.

As long as US is controlling Japan, it will not allow Japan to develop an independent and aggressive military force.
So you can see that all military force of Japan are focusing on defense..
Aggressive force like aircraft carrier like what US have?
Not possible in the short term..

Oh boy...are you so wrong...

The only thing keeping Japan from having all this is their Constitution and Article 9.
If they revoke it the US is not going to stop them from building an Aircraft Carrier.

Japan will never build such a carrier..US won`t allow it..
Yes, you are right.
Defeat your competitor in economy is much easier than in battlefield..

I think your failure in understanding Japanese and American defense apperture is credit to this lack in strategic visage. First of all, since 1978 since the time of Masayoshi, the United States ever has been begging Japan to change its omnidirectionality foreign and defense policy, even asking Japan to change its article 9 article so that Japan can re-arm and handle its own share. Japan, at first was very resistant, believing in comprehensive security --- with idea of having a Japan-USA-China Entente. In fact, naturally, Japan preferred a Japanese-Chinese-American Defense Pact.

Be that as it may, history proved otherwise. Since the threat of Soviet Expansionism was the imeptus for Japanese alignment with the United States.

So the argument of America not allowing Japan to re-arm is just simply untrue and baseless. The United States has no say in Japanese national policy , as it has been Japanese will that dictated terms regarding defense paradigms. Now, if Japan chooses to ammend article 9 from the constitution, then there will be no limitations in our defense plans.

In fact, China is to be thanked for all of this. Your country's rise and defense clout is used as impetus, as context for Japanese legislative processes to remove article 9 and to draft a new constitution, actually.

Thank You China. :)

Precisely, and fortunately for us, we will be voting on this new constitution (devoid of an article 9 , lol) as early as 2017.

And may i add that the LDP-Komeito have complete 2/3rds majority dominance now in both the House of Councillors and House of Representatives. lol.

The later now, but I was the former too. I served four years in the RNoAF (Bodø hovedflystasjon) as part of an SAR unit primarily operating in the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans (checking up on oilers, fishermen, and occasional research teams). I didn't venture into the Baltic (technically the Skagerrak Strait) too often.

This was my job:

I work for a transnational defense contractor now.

I served in the Terran army against the Zerg and Protoss a few years ago. Pretty fun/scary/interesting stuff.

I would say both China and Japan are using other side as excuse for increasing defense capacity.
China is now modernize its army, focusing on US presence in east Asia.
Yet China cannot directly target US. So Japan, with the Diaoyu island issue, is the best politic target .
Japan is used to be quite safe and completely rely on US for protection.
Yet when China rises, it need to re-arm itself and get more independent from US control
US is not likely to get involved into Diaoyu Island issue, fight his own power for Japan..

So both Japan and China are only fighting verbally, using each other to strengthen themselves.
No risk of hot war. No one want it

That's it I'm moving to Norway!!!!!!!!
Ironically Fjord is what I yell when I'm angry:lol:.

But yes, many mountains, a lot of rivers and lakes and the more north you go the colder it gets. It's not as if Norway can support a large population anyways. However, the topography's difficulty for an invading force more that makes up for our military's lack of size.

I live in Sandefjord. just saying;). There's an international airport in the city, so upon arrival you'll be nearby:azn:. Maybe you can visit?
@Nihonjin1051 , you sneaky devil!!!!!!!

true, which is why they are in the process of revising that article. Otherwise it absolutely can, its law, constitutional law in fact.
