Born at Chak No. 105, Banga village, Jaranwala Tehsil, Lyallpur district(now Faisalabad), Punjab,Pakistan.

Singh was hanged on 23 March 1931 (age 23) in Lahore jail with his fellow comrades Rajguru and Sukhdev

Singh was influenced by Marxism.he was one of the early Marxists in India.
In his prison notebooks, he quoted Vladmir Lenin in reference to imperialism & capitalism and also revolutionary thoughts of Trotsky.When asked what his last wish was, Singh replied that he was studying the life of Lenin and he wanted to finish it before his death.
