Excellent article in the Christian Science Monitor. Too long to quote here, but the article demolishes the scare tactics and points out that even if Iran does eventually choose to develop nuclear weapons, it will do so as a defensive move and there will be few dangers in relation to that. It's interesting that even an Israeli simulation backs this up.

Iran in the hands of ayatollah khameiny and its wise government is taking the right decision not to develop the bomb, since what the point of having 1-2-3 or even 500bombs compared to 13 000 nuclear warheads for the US !!! (Russia 17 000).
And Iran, even if it had the bomb, it would have pledged for not to be the first one to use it in case of a major conflict, like India and Pakistan.

I liked this quote by an Israeli historian:

If Iran were to become a nuclear power, the most immediate question would be what it means for Israel, where warnings have reached histrionic heights.

Mr. Van Creveld is implying that Israel's own nuclear arsenal of an estimated 200 warheads would prevent any Iranian first strike. Israel has the only such arsenal in the Middle East, and – unlike Iran's program – it has never been subject to UN inspection or safeguards.

"Say they build one bomb – it's not good enough. They need how many – 2, 3, 5, 10, 20? And that will take them a long time, so it's all nonsense," says Van Creveld. Iran is "not going to commit suicide by dropping the bomb – or even threatening to drop the bomb – on us."

He used common sense, what many Israel and US politicians are incapable of.

I think if mankind instead of investing huge sums of money in making nukes or weapons spent their money in education or health care system we would have a better world ,and also 'cause nuclear weaponry is a blind one I'd rather a nuclear-weapon-free world so I hope Iran will never ever decide to make a bomb

Fatwas are non-binding and can be changed at any time as circumstances change. Theoretically Atom bomb is not un-Islamic and is just a tool. It would be like saying automatic rifles are un-Islamic because they did not exist 1400 years ago, which is not right. Even Quran says that fight your enemies, the way they fight you. So if US is threatening Iran with nukes, it is completely Islamic for Iran to get the bomb, the same way when India threatened Pakistan with nukes, Pakistan got the bomb. Personally I think, nukes will never be used and they are just instruments of peace which prevent catastrophic conventional wars. If Iran had nukes in 1980, Saddam would have never attacked it. If Iraq or Libya had the bomb, US would never have attacked them. Nukes just prevent wars and Iran would be safe with them much more than without them. If Iran gets the nukes, then all options would not be on the table and US will only be able to talk to Iranians.
