What's new

What would China be like today if the Nationalists had won the Chinese Civil War?

They would have supported a KMT-controlled China, just as the same way as how they supported South Korea and Japan (economically, militarily and politically) tho probably on a much larger basis.

How much support do you think the US could afford to give lol? The USSR gave 7% of their GDP to China in 1950 and had nobody else to support except small countries like Poland, Hungary and Romania, will the US give 7% of their entire GDP to China when they also had to support Western Europe and Japan?

It is actually logical to say that China get to what it is today because of what happened before. That is a fact that cannot be ignored.
You tried but failed -- to evade.

Not what happened before, but what MUST happen, and they did. By your illogic, the bloody Cultural Revolution MUST happened, so was the famine, so were the periodic purges inside the Party so that Mao can consolidate his power.

The adoption of Marxism was not what set China decades behind the west.
Sure...During the Cold War, China was a technological powerhouse comparable to the US.

.
I watched a documentary, an American woman (i think she was a journalist) in China at that time was astonished how some KMT told her that the Chinese beggar she saw wasn't human, no need to bother with him. She was not surprised the Communist eventually won and kicked the KMT out.

The KMT has ruled China for 22 years, but the population hasn't increased at all in these 22 years.

And keep in mind there was no one-child policy at that time, and who knows how many people were starved to death during their rule.

Those propagandists often blame Mao for starving many peasants, but China's population growth was always positive during Mao's years, but it was flat during KMT's years.

So who has really starved the Chinese people?

Unbelievable...!!!

A famine is a one time event but child bearing and rearing is continuous. Further, Africa is known for famines and yet there is population growth in Africa, even in countries where famines are recurring events.

Not for the KMT it wasn't. Famine was a reoccuring event in the KMT days.

You also act as if China was not far behind the west during the KMT days.

I do not mean that there was only one famine. A 'one time' event mean there is a beginning and an end. A car race is a one time event that reoccurs annually. Do you understand now ?

But the stupidity of the argument is that since China's population growth continued, there was no famine.

Never mind who/what caused the famine, here is Ethiopia's history of famines and population growth...

And you guys are supposed to be the racially superior Asians ?

lol I don't know where you learned your English, but in American English, "one time event" means "the event occured once and probably won't occur again."

Example: "Suzie, why'd you go on a date with that loser?" "Oh, it was a one time event. He's so boring."

You are correct. I am in error. The famine in China never happened because China's population continued to rise. The sources about Ethiopia are fakes.

I did not say that it must happen, only you said that.

Why would CCP publicly admitting that GLF and CR has made mistakes and reversing many of the policy, if it is considered the only right way.

Going back to check the post history, I found where this start?
China is China today with Cultural Revolution, India is India today without Cultural Revolution!

and you reply:
So you are saying that the bloody Cultural Revolution was a necessity. Got it.

  1. If P, then Q.
  2. Q.
  3. Therefore, P.
dy1022 only made statement no. 1.
But you accuse him of making statement no. 3.
Which is a logical fallacy called Affirming the consequent

Statement no. 1 only infer if NOT Q then NOT P.

Therefore given statement 1, dy1022's second statement that "India is India today without Cultural Revolution" is actually logically correct !!

I think you make the mistake of thinking that if NOT Q then NOT P is infering if and only if P then Q.

I only clarify what you guys are too much chickenshit to admit: That you guys believe the bloody Cultural Revolution must happened.

Never mind what the Party admitted. In this little corner of the Internet, it matters only what you guys believe.

They wont. Like Germany the US would keep china as strong as china can withstand russia invasion with moderate US back up.
US would surpress chinese rise.

Doubt that they would have suppressed the Chinese. In fact, the Chinese were the original preferred 'partner' by Germany and the United States. Once China went 'commie', the proverbial fecum hit the fan.

There was actually a time that Emperor Hirohito even warned the Japanese Government that KMT would form an alliance with Nazi Germany , Italy. In fact, during early 1930s, the Nazis even considered asking KMT China to join the Tripartite Treaty.

Once the Communists started waging war in the countryside, the Germans, and the Italians reconsidered, and invited Japan instead.

I guess china would look something like north korea , don't get me wrong , i mean the nationalistic republic of china (Taiwan) is pretty advanced nation , more so than the british infested hong kong ; But history is proven that they can't run a country size of china with a nationalistic attitude , they gotta make their people wary with some foreign invented ideology , like russian communism or american capitalism or maybe both at the same time.

The KMT were dedicated to war with the enemy. You know that they even flooded certain regions (destroyed dams) just to destroy Japanese convoys. They implemented slash and burn tactics in the war with Japan, the KMT that is.

I don't care what these CPC-supporting trolls say in this forum. The CPC (Commies) did not engage the Japanese en masse. Of the 4+ million Japanese soldiers in China, the overwhelming majority of them were deployed to combat the KMT forces.

Communists were minor brigands in the rural countryside ; and were defeated whenver engaged. The KMT, on the other hand, mobilized entire armies to pound the Imperial Army. Of the some 2+ million Japanese soldiers that died in China, most of them fell at the hands of KMT soldiers. Not commie brigands.

Period.

Thanks my japanese friend , i don't know much about the second world war in asia , but like you said the commies are cowards , i 100% agree.
