'Kashmir Solidarity Day' is a national holiday in Pakistan held on 5 February each year. Let's hear what the ordinary Pakistani knows about it.

It's clear very few Pakistanis know what it's all about and neither do they seem interested. It's just another holiday for them to enjoy when they go see Bollywood films, listen to Indian film music, tune in to Zee TV or Star Plus to see Indian soaps, go shopping for kababs or a nice lunch at a decent restaurant!! Or even go visit family and friends.

Kashmir is just somewhere on the hazy horizon which they don't know much about, nor care about except the political class, honchos like Hafiz Saeed who needs to keep himself relevant to the hoards he has fed on nothing but his propaganda rants and of course the Pakistan Army.

And oh yes! Many keyboard warriors on PDF too!!!

As i know Pakistani third grade TV channels make better serials then first class Indians, don't worry if Kashmir is really atotang of India then India should try to get rest of Part.

.
i am surprised they actually declared a national holiday for 'kashmir' problem maybe they wanted to create awareness amongst their population on this issue but seems to have failed .

Actually the ordinary Pakistan cares a fig for the Kashmir issue. They are more concerned with what's going on within and also get on with their lives. They pine for better healthcare, education, and quality of life. Kashmir won't solve their problems, personal needs and desires. The world has moved on except for those I've mentioned in post #1.

its the same everywhere isn't it even in india the common man is not worried about whats happening in kashmir . His concerns are the same which a common pakistani would have the difference is indian govt likes it that way while pak govt is involved in war mongering .

Okay, so....Kashmir Day.

First of all, its important to understand the context of 'Kashmir Day', just going 'Hey, fun fact, Pakistan has a holiday called Kashmir Day' may make for some lulz or an awkward silence breaker on game night or even a small tidbit of information to break the ice with a pretty girl you just saw but if you look deeper into the story of Kashmir Day.You will find that it was first declared in 1990, at that point, the Kashmir Insurgency was really heating up and there was ALOT of fighting going on in Kashmir. Naturally, with a lot of fighting came a lot of casualties and the domestic support for Kashmiri fighters was going through the roof. In such a situation, it was the AJK assembly that first adopted a resolution to celebrate Kashmir Independence Day which was later tabled in the Pakistani Assembly and was also approved.
Over the time, the Kashmiri Liberation movement has subsided and thus, so has the importance of Kashmir in the lives of average Pakistanis so thus, the clueless responses.

Secondly, what I think of Kashmir Day as a Pakistani?
Well, I believe that the spirit of the holiday has largely been lost to politics and for that reason, its significance has taken a backseat. The Kashmir conflict has dragged on long enough and the resources being allocated to sustain military forces in order to continue with this stare down is keeping our own citizens (both nations), in conditions that are way below the standards that we can afford for them. So, a solution has to be worked out, both nations have turned Kashmir into an issue of national integrity so naturally, neither can just back off. A compromise has to be worked out and it must be done so as quickly as possible so that we can stop fighting and actually start contributing something to the world and the region.

I also see that you blame 'Kashmir Day'on the Pakistan Army, bro seriously?

I pray for my Kashmiri brothers and sisters every day. I will never forget.
You're wasting your time. Rather you start praying instead for sectarian violence and terrorism to end within Pakistan that has resulted in killing of more than 50,000 civilians and soldiers. It seems you love the Kashmiris more (who care two hoots about Pakistan) than your own countrymen. Your priorities are way out of sync.

I am wasting my time because I remember the suffering of others and pray for them?
