What's new

what jet is this?

Dude, it's Mirage V :|

But the airframe is the same, avionics have been changed in the Mirage V

But ya, now that I look at it carefully it was mentioned Mirage rebuild factory, so should have said V

But Wikipedia has a combined page for the III and V - so my link was not wrong ;)

Wikipedia has two different pages for them.

Dassault Mirage 5 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dassault Mirage III - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Although i must say, generally, they both look the same. A couple of modifications here and there.

Mirage was a very decent platform and the only logical step would have been if mirage2000 would have been opted as a replacement for our older mirage III and 5 when the offer was on table by the french, no thanks to our government, their short sightedness resulted in a huge gap between the IAF and PAF which is yet to over come by the PAF.

any body have any info on this??

It’s a Mirage III EP and interestingly the tail number 101 depicts it’s from the first batch that we received in 1967. 101 was flown by MM Alam and this aircraft is still flying today with Alam’s signature on it…

There is a famous painting from Gp Capt Hussaini where six Mirages are in close formation and entering Pakistans airspace …101 is leading the formation and being flown by MM Alam…I will upload the painting, if I find that…..:enjoy:

What was the reason for not accepting the offer?
Funds? Or perhaps other interests?
