2002--Six used/refurbished C130E
L-88 AeroStat Radars

2003--40 Bell Model 407 Helicopters
Air Surviellence Radars-AN/TPS-77
Air Traffic Control Radars

2004--Harris Radios (various)
6 Phalanx Systems

2005--60 EA Harpoon Missiles

2006--3200 EA TOW Misisles
36 EA F16 C/D (inlcudes Sidewinder missiles)
115 M109A5 155mm Self Propelled Howitzers
130 EA Harpoon Missiles

2007--3 Excess/Refurbished E-2C Hawkeye Aircraft

2008--21 AN/ALQ-211(V)9 Electronic Warfare Suite for F16
Refurbish 8 EA AH-1F Cobra Helicopters

NOTE: These are only programs notified to Congress (over the threshold)
and do not constitute sales, only the US Government intention/plan to make a sale. You'll have to research further to see what they actually bought. END NOTE

Just as a quick look, the Harpoons, Electronic Warfare Suite, and Airport Radars are probably the only things that cannot be directed against the Taliban, and none of the above is particulary out of line for the self-defnese needs of a country with 150 Million people.

Thats the biggest example of PAK-US (FRIENDLY RELATIONS) IMO!

We need STATE OF ART WEAPONS rather thn these Refur. and old weapons!

love this statement hearing from any pakistan when we see we have less in military tech just to defend military hardware. In future if we dont have money so (according to your statement) we will sell our F16s and other military hardware to bangladesh srilanka etc ????? and said to everyone that we dont have money we dont have moeny ?????

Read my thread carefully before open your voice. our bankcrupty scene startd since 2006-/7 not from 2003. And for good information all those countries who have F16s, upgraded there aircrafts in early 90-2000 (with respect to time and upgrade stuff available). We even ddnt upgrade our F16s since 90 - 2009. By the way if we dont have cash so how did we go for Advance German subs ???

Thats for you...

From the Congressional Research Service report to Congress concerning US arms supply to Pakistan.

http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/weapons/RS22757.pdf

"In 2006, the United States signed arms transfer agreements with Pakistan in excess of $3.5 billion, ranking Pakistan first among all arms clients of the United States during that calendar year. The key elements in Pakistan’s arms purchases from the United States were 36 F-16C/D Block 50/52 fighter aircraft for $1.4 billion; a variety of missiles and bombs to be utilized on the F-16 C/D fighter aircraft for over $640 million; the purchase of Mid-Life Update Modification Kits to upgrade Pakistan’s F-16A/B aircraft for $890million; and 115 M109A5 155mm Self-propelled howitzers for $52 million. The rise of
Pakistan to its new status as a major arms purchaser from the United States is particularly noteworthy given the difficulties the United States has had with Pakistan since the 1970s over its successful effort to produce nuclear weapons. The total value of Pakistan’s 2006 arms purchases from the United States nearly matches the total value of all Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program purchases by Pakistan from the United States for the entire
period from FY1950-FY2001 (more than $3.6 billion in current dollars)."

I know about these information. We go for 18 F16 BLK52 not 36. By the way i have zero % trust on Americans and i think 90% of pakistanis not trust on these americans especially when we are talking about "State of Art Weapons Deal" btw Pakistan and USA. I cant say anything about MLU and F16 BLK52. We know Americans atleast.

Question A: Since 90-2008 Why we are not upgrade our weapons ?
Question B: Why we are not going for upgrade model of C130 and other Transport Aircrafts?
Question C: Where is Attack Helicopter ? (old Cobra gunship is outdated)
Question D: Only Missiles purchase is not everything look at Pakistan Navy. Everyone knows our PN is not capable aginst today Navy hardware/aircraft/submarines. Just we go for German subs (thats good) but where is other Navy hardware ?

china weapon hardware might be good or i cant say anything but we know Russian, American, French Weapons. Atleast GOP put some pressure on US GOV for ASAP delivery of Our New F16s. I have read mostly all threads including new and old on this forum still didnt get proper answer of these Questions.

Thanks, Regards

Collateral Damage - The Center for Public Integrity

I can't answer all your questions Stealth. I just don't know enough about some of those issues. I do know that military supplies to Pakistan were temporarily put on hold for the end of 2007 and into the beginning of 2008 due to the political turmoil inside Pakistan with the campaign of Mrs. Bhutto and her subsequent assassination and the resignation of President Musharraf. Military supplies to Pakistan continues to be very controversial issue among the American people.

ok friend - lets move to the subject at hand!

1. the german sub deal has not been signed - one of the reasons is the availability of funds/cash!

2. as u r aware since 1993 - till 2001 Pak was under US military sanctions, so the upgrades of F-16s was out of the question - the upgrades were only offered in 2006 and as you may know, Pak is having difficulty in finding funds/cash for them and we had to ask the US to divert funds earmarked for upgrade of cobras/or other equipment to upgrade the F-16s which the congress did not appreciate and that is why it is taking a long time to get the upgrade programme ramped up.
3. if we want hi-tech then you need to pay hi-tech cash and believe me we dont have it - i dont like it just like you dont like it but thats the reality.
4. we go for US equipment bcuz we get FMS funds and no other country in the world does that.

hope to have cleared any "mis-conceptions" and pls accept my apology also for being abrasive!:enjoy:

enjoy your stay at def.pk forum

Question A: Since 90-2008 Why we are not upgrade our weapons ?
PAF has upgraded F-7 and Mirage III/V. PA has been upgrading tanks. PN has been upgrading ships and submarines.
Question B: Why we are not going for upgrade model of C130 and other Transport Aircrafts?
They are extremely expensive.
Question C: Where is Attack Helicopter ? (old Cobra gunship is outdated)
Old is gold. Pakistan is waiting for Turkish helicopter project and maybe Chinese one too.
Question D: Only Missiles purchase is not everything look at Pakistan Navy. Everyone knows our PN is not capable aginst today Navy hardware/aircraft/submarines. Just we go for German subs (thats good) but where is other Navy hardware ?
Navy hardware is coming. F-22P guided missile frigates from China, MILGEM missile corvettes from Turkey and another small guided missile destroyer project from either Europe, China or Turkey. All with transfer of technology, so some ships will be built in Pakistan. Check the Navy section.
