If the Israelis can't even admit that their "state-of-the-art" new-generation missiles can't even shoot down a 50 year old Russian SAM properly, then I highly doubt they'll ever admit that one of their "mighty" fighter jets was shot down that night rofl.
Trust me as a Palestinian, nothing less than targeted strikes on air bases/runways will take out their jets. They have best tech in the region, along with most flight hours. No Air Force in the region nor Russia can compete with them on that front. That along with large drone force(many armed), plus layered missile defense, top notch armor and protective systems for them, no one currently can come close to competing with them their way. For a long time.
Iran has reached its limits with it's asymmetric approach. Saudi Arabia is adapting to asymmetric warfare due to conflict in Yemen. It is sponsoring pro-Aden gov't rebels too, so it needs to make the most out of that experience. I see no new emerging power in the region for the next 10 years. What we see now is chest thumping and mental gymnastics by all sides(besides Israel) to make themselves feel better or fool others. Which suits the current agendas of players in the region, as lame propaganda suits their interests.
