Better option is for Pakistan to go into a period of self isolation. Pakistan's attempts to get involved in too many issues has left only Pakistan scarred. Afghanistan and support of Taliban backfired when the local Taliban attempted to impose the same policies of the Afghan Taliban and end result is war between Pakistan establishment and local Taliban. Attempt to invade Kashmir resulted in India invading Kashmir and Maharajha handing ascession documents to India. Kargil resulted in military takeover and suspension of democracy. Pakistan needs to go into self isolation to rebuild its economy and to kickstart social reforms. An economically stronger Pakistan will be a much bigger threat to Indian "dominance" than a military strong Pakistan

Building a massive economy is probably the best option, but then again without weapons we cannot defend ourselves. Minimum deterrence is required under any scenario.

Where would that take us? India and Pakistan have been doing that to each other since both became independent, and that line of thought has taken us no where.

Play a Diplomatic game.So that India wouldn't able to attack because of International Pressure.

Good idea, but playing Diplomatic games must go hand in hand with building a massive economy.


I personally like the self-isolation method presented by an Indian member above, but that too is not workable in the current situation. With India and Afghanistan hanging around our neck like a ever tightening noose, it will be akin to suicide for us.

I would say that our main objective should be to strengthen our economy first, with minimum deterrence capability and a good diplomatic relationship with the major powers of the world and more importantly, our neighbors in the South Asian region.

This very thought process reflects the insecurity that Pakistan has built in realtion to India. As a professor from LUMS put it "Pakistan is based on a negative ideology i.e anti-Indian", this ideology has been installed in the normal Pakistani by the establishment i.e the PA. Thats precisely why you think of things like Indian dominance, as your thought process has been moulded in that direction.

Other Indian neighbours which are smaller than Pakistan in size never worry about India's rise. Instead theys see it as an advantage. Some food for thought??
