Why can't India create Gorkhaland? The Gorkha people in Darjeeling and surrounding areas are struggling for jobs and the main jobs that Gorkha youth take up are in the Darjeeling railways and in the army. With the facilities being centred in West Bengal mainly Kolkata, what is there for us Gorkhas? Young people are committing public self-immolation for this cause, I would post the youtube video but it's to graphic. We are Gorkha not Bengali. Here are pictures which show the support for Gorkhaland:

There is no reason for not making Gorkhaland, i'm from the same area and i know the suffering the indigenous population has gone through under 30 years of communist and now under the 'crack head b!tch'.

And at the same time, making a seperate Gorkhaland will start a ripple throughout the West Bengal for Kamtapur, Bodoland in Assam, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand in UP, Vidarbha in Maharashtra. And that might add chaos to the prevalent system. Having said that, i strongly support smaller states for efficient governance.

Divide UP and Bihar into as many parts as you can possibly imagine.

Sir, Gorkha youth are going through a tough time, there is a lack of opportunities. With a Gorkhaland state, we can have more facilities centred in the area and this will create more jobs.

telengana became reality after 60 years, guess gurkhas have to struggle a bit more.
But they can still make it a autonomous region like ladakh.

Gorkhaland movement is running for more than 80 years, organized movement under the banner of political parties for 40 years.

We don't want autonomy, we just want more facilities and jobs. If Darjeeling became the capital of West Bengal(not even possible) then all the jobs would come here and there would be no Gorkhaland movement. And the movement has existed for a long time.

Getting a state doesn't solve the problems, which you mentioned. Look other newer states conditions.

BTW we should mix Sikkim and Gurkhland, and form a new state, it will solve problem to a large extant. Geography and demography is nearly same for those two states.

Not just Darjeeling but since Independence the infrastructure of entire North Bengal has been put on ignorance list by every government. The rulers are hell capital centric. People have to come to Kolkata for major medical treatments. Roads are difficult to trace among potholes. If the government do not endeavor to build basic facilities here, we might hear demands for separate Maldaland or Dinajland too in near future.

Really bad suggestion trust me I myself belong from the region. SP stronghold of western UP under the super secular regime will potentially turn into a terrorist hub like Kashmir, Kerala and West Bengal.

We also know the peace of Kerla. Few year earlier, hands of a principle were cut down publically because he torn Kuran. And no one get arrested or punished.........and most important principle lost his job and all pansion and retirement facilities.

what a peace.....Android saying is completly correct.

BTW answer of thread is because WB is under regional party rule who don't want destroy their vote bank........ As soon as any BJP/congress get power their, one of them will highlight in at national wide and try to leverage it in elections.
