What's new

what is going on in Gawadar?

Balochistan is the golden egg laying duck in the becoming, USD 2B annual royalty through Reko Diq so I guess this is why powers are at play.

Legitimate protest hijacked by you know who.
The protesters started off with very legitimate demands that harm not just the local population but Pakistan in general in the long run. For example illegal trawlers that fish in Gwadar’s water are destroying marine life and causing many species to go extinct. This will have a long term affect on Pakistan overall not just on people of Gwadar. The state ignoring the legitimate protests for legitimate demands has caused anti pak elements to hijack it. We gave them this opportunity and now our enemies are exploiting it while our crackdowns are just adding more fuel to the fire. Every side needs to act with sense and government needs to pacify them asap. Harming Maulana Hidyat Ur Rehman could create a Bugti 2.0 like situation because he has popular support in Gwadar. We need to act sensibly and avoid opening a new front.

Excellent post.

Let's respond how our nat sec / intel establishment knows how: make sex tapes of the militants and release them. That should solve our problems!

And do not forget targeted killings like those in Kenya....

Not a Nat-Sec issue as of now.. Should not be crushed using brute force. A purely political legitimate protest like this should be handled very carefully...

This issue was raised during PTI govt, they talked to the Chinese authority and stopped this fishing practice. Thousands of fishermen getting unemployed and their economic situation is getting worst. Now it seems the Chinese trawler is back again. Govt should be brave enough to stop these illegal trawlers, which is leading to terrorism in Baluchistan. Unemployment and unequal distribution of wealth are major causes of terrorism.
