Today we all lament the envionment and the way glaciers are melting. We are aware of the impact it hall have in the day ahead.
Whenever I go home to my ancestral place I see trees ( Neem,mangoes etc) planted by my ancestors who have long gone. The trees have grown to magnificent sizes. The orchards ( baghs as they are called locally) are doing well - they provide shade, revenue and wood.
I was brought to reality years ago when my son asked me to show him the tree(s) I had planted and aid he wanted to plant one himself. I had nothing to show. Shamefacedly I planted one and ensured over the years it lived.
What do we give back now ?
I seek views from posters here to know what they did in their daily lives to give something back to the earth. The mallest thing also would help like not using plastics which do not decay for years, to plant & nurture a sapling,to aharvest rain water.
We do not need the Govt always to do things we too can do a lot more.
Check dams by villagers have helped raied the water table in many places.
Every thing helps, its only in the mind.
