Core issues as their very existence? True but that would be the case of any country, even notoriously underperforming and corrupt Pakistan! Do you have any doubts about that? Just imagine what would happen in case of a Pakistan-Gangu war.
Other than that the Israeli society is one of the most divided there is. The religious/secular divide, the ethnic divide European Jews/Arab/non-European Jews who are in the majority, Zionists vs non-Zionists, the political divide, the economic divide etc.
The countries that are most stable and where most people share a similar view are ethnostates such as the Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Arabs, most European states etc.
If intermarriages across ethic lines were mor common in Pakistan, a more popular common language than Urdu was used, etc. we could/would be in a similar boat.

Their elites have feared better, I agree. The Pakistani "elites" are a disgrace, as everyone knows. However each country deserves the elite that they have. After all we have fostered those very same elites. They did not jump down from the sky, they evolved within our midst.
I have always said this, we Pakistanis are world champions in cheap talk but when it comes to action there is barely anything. Only Bharti hostility can create some kind of genuine unity. It is a sad states of affairs.
