What Did the U.S. Get for $2 Trillion in Afghanistan?

Smart people would ask: 'What did the US learned from Afghanistan?' And they worries for their countries.

So, what did you learn after spending 2 trillion dollars

But ultimately, not just US but the world learned that Afghanistan is a lost cause.

Thank you sir, your wisdom is a beacon of light..:toast_sign:

And what I gave was a genuine answer. We got nothing or at best very little in the short term, but in the long run, we learned more than you can digest. And that is what other countries are afraid of.

Sir what happens in Afghanistan is not replicable anywhere in the world and what you had learned in your last 100 years of wars anywhere was not replicable in Afghanistan either. 2000 Billion dollar lessons will be many for sure but for you, one lesson will stand out that "don't try to learn 2000 Billion dollar lessons another time".

Unofficially one million Afghans lost their life... what had they done to you that you eliminated a human generation and future of a country? To learn your lessons? Wasn't the start of this war not the biggest question you should have? - and if you couldn't have that question at its time - every answer you learned bypassing that must be wasteful.

It's like someone jumping from 4 story building and then saying I learned lots of lessons as a result of my injuries. Sure you would have learned lots of lessons by suffering but if your learned lessons went into the same brain that could not prevent you from jumping the first place then everything you learned is a dead-waste.

Its just a hope that any lesson has been learned. But what a long, painful and expensive lesson.

I think that US wanted to learn the art of making good "Naswar", at any cost, whatsoever.

yes you learned to reply like an Indian. like you they always gain something from every defeat.

What does the US get? Just look no further who are Afganistan neighbors are. Even if a million Afgan died, US will not give a shit.

They allowed Al-Qaeda to use their land as a base for a global Islamic war.

Lessons abounds. For US, yes, Afghanistan is a lost cause. For the rest of the world, the US military is an expeditionary force never seen before in history.

so $2 Trillion for a lesson?..
Yup. We can afford it.

Islamic terrorism?..

really?
Yup. Really.

seems like OBL was upset with your soldiers were in his land?... seems pretty political to me. Never mind the fact he was happy to take CIA supplied satellite phones, weapons etc from during the 1980s...
Never mind the fact that Osama bin Laden, in an interview with Robert Fisk, said he never took anything from the US during the Cold War. Robert Fisk is no friend of the US.

of course people who invade wars on a pack of lies and justify murder of millions do not care about such trivial details

no?
You talking about Islamic terrorism? I agree with you on that.

What has the US gained?
  • Tens of thousands of poor households recieved an income as they sent their men to kill other peoples families.
  • US weapons manufacters recieved hundreds of billions of dollars, keeping open factories and support industries.
  • American political parties recieved billions in donations from the owners of the above businesses.
  • US politicians had a convenient bad guy to hide behind if their governments were doing poorly.
  • US security companies recieved billions in business from government agencies buying equipment and training and developing new security protocols to "fight terrorists".
The tax payer will pay the cost in the future, but what price is freedom, the freedom to do whatever you want with no real consequence?
Do not concern yourselves with what we lost. Instead, focus on what you lost, which is magnitudes more than our loss.

Afghanistan is a lost cause and once US/NATO leaves, it will be the problem of regional players to stabilize it. Good luck. US role should only be about counter-terrorism.

It's an incredible falsehood that OBL was working with the CIA, when he was working with Saudi Arabia, who was funding the Arab fighters in Afghanistan. All CIA dollars and weapons were funneled through ISI.
