Pakistan will become a secular state, don't worry about it. People are realizing the benefits of the secular system.

lol,when ? 4000 AD ?

But you should be worried about Orissa riots and the fact that it can occur again. If you were worried about your communities you would not deflect attention to Pakistan. This kind of cowardice I have seen in pro India muslims and now I am seeing it in pro india christians. If you do not fight for your rights there will be thousands of families like mine who migrate to safer, more tolerant lands. That is why I view it as a duty to argue for at least muslim if not minority rights in Indian occupied regions.

When did Pakistan become safer & tolerable ? tolerable for whom ?
India is a secular state - Pakistan is an Islamic country which legally persecutes minorities and considers them as second-class citizens.Enough said.

.
It's the dhoti which makes them smarter than the NASA scientists.

The power of freedom no underwear no nothing hence more intelligence in pundits.

@Topic Dhoti was responsible for Indians being in space even before man learned how to take a dump.

Lol. You clearly are not a Christian but rather an offspring of both Christian/Hindu parents otherwise you would not ignore such a major rights issue in your country by deflecting blame to another. Pakistan is a theocracy. India is supposed to be secular. There is clearly a difference between how such states behave. India should be less communal and making idiotic claims will not make India stronger.

Most experts agree that religion and science cannot work together. Instead Hindu religion is dragged into everything, including Islamic figures, places and ideology

Lets not troll the Indians. If you have a point lay it out.

. .
Would you like the responsibility of explaining your or should I say the Hindu nationalists point of view?
If you read in what context that statement was made with unbiased glasses you will get the point of view. Nothing Hindu Nationalists or Secular about it, but instead of going into merit of what the minister said you dived into anti Hindu/ anti India rhetoric.

For starters read about Panchang and try to putting it in context.

Wow you gotta love the nationalism here. Its almost blind level of nationalism. So those swamis and pandits know more about the universe than the organization that has spent billions of dollars on space equipment and has sent then outside our solar system to bring clearer and better information while also utilizing telescopes and super computers that can see outside our galaxy.

Does anybody take such statements seriously in India?

Bro pandits have more freedom to their crotch so dont question the wisdom of brains being down stair. Enough Said:omghaha:

at the risk of going off topic. Pakistan has more per capita rape and due to its regressive laws and social system, many women are afraid to report it to the police. Having said that, pakistan is currently marred with so many unfortunate situations that women safety is least of their concern now.

Feminism is a sign of progressive state. India has seen huge revolution of feminism, as was seen in western world when they were progressing, that has helped highlight the crime against women in public, becasue that's what is our priority right now. Our cities are safe from bomb blasts and so are our military bases and hence we are fighting for social justice, something which will come in Pakistan once they have achieved basic need of Maslow's herarchy, that is of security.

I have no intention of trolling. I tried dhoti last time i was in Pakistan and i felt like superman so i know the feeling of enhanced senses.

 And how did you decide that ? You saw my 'birth certificate' ?

There is no 'minority rights issue' here-India is secular nation that treats ever religion equally. If I feel I have been denied of any right, can approach the judiciary, with ease.

Pakistan is a theocracy. India is supposed to be secular. .

Oh you know that ? Why don't you speak up for

There is clearly a difference between how such states behave. India should be less communal and making idiotic claims will not make India stronger..

Can you tell me what's communal here ? An average Indian christian/muslim would be proud about the works of Aryabhatta or Bhaskara or the skills of ancient Indian metallurgists. They consider it as their common heritage.

This is exactly what I was talking about yesterday and I say it again. We muslims see this as extravagant expansion of Hinduism into each and every other field. If this is the original logic then why not add Islamic principles to science too. Religion should not be mixed with science.

The way I see it it has much to do with Hindu nationalism otherwise such claims would not be made. This is an example of what I saw when I went to Agra long ago. Hindutvas had labelled statues and ancient infrastructure of Islamic times with Hindu names and Hindu version of events. I don't even say the Hindu version of events should be removed. I believe it should have been including with the Islamic version of events. That would make if fair.

I see this as aggressive expansion of Hindu religion and it definately puts us muslims on edge. You can make this neutral by either not mentioning Hindutva ideals in science or by including scientific concepts of all religions. In a secular state either all views are maintained in policy or no views are. Favoring one religions line of thinking and linking it with science is a mockery of the secular system Indians should be trying to uphold.

You cannot approach the judiciary. It takes years for a simple case to be resolved. I know some allies from Hyderabad who went there and were told to "go to Pakistan"... My point is India has a lot to do to be a secular state and currently it isn't doing much that is in the right direction.

I always speak up for minorities. But Indians like to ignore their problems until they become a big blob-then they tend to worry and shift blame onto Pakistan for their own poor treatment of minorities.

Read post 90 and it will tell you what is communal here.

Says who ? I know much about Indian judiciary than you do.

Utter BS.

The problem here is the sheer hypocrisy exhibited by Islamists like you.Shouldn't you be more concerned about your own minorities than worrying about Indian Muslims ( who have Indian judiciary & laws to their help ? )

''You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.'' ( Matthew 7:5)

Pakistanis like to ignore the problems of minorities in their own country & shift blame onto India for their own poor treatment of minorities.

Read post 90 and it will tell you what is communal here.

There is nothing communal here - Indian astronomers, mathematicians or whatever had nothing to do with Hinduism ( other than the fact that they were Hindus ) .

I have stayed in Lucknow for a bit and know how many bribes you have to give and also how the judiciary acts as a Hindu body rather than a secular one. According to ADC Muslims were killed outside the Andra Pradesh High Court in Hyderabad-no justice for them.

Hindutva's acting as Christians and shifting blame. Typical arrogance. Christians are daily being attacked and you are praising the government which is cause of the problem.

This is clearly communal. Muslims should also add their views on science then if Hindus are doing it:

In the Muslim world, many believe that modern science was first developed in the Muslim world rather than in Europe and Western countries, that "all the wealth of knowledge in the world has actually emanated from Muslim civilization," and what people call "the scientific method", is actually "the Islamic method."[4] Muslims often cite verse 239 fromSurahAl-Baqara —- He has taught you what you did not know.[5] —- in support of their view that the Qur'an promotes the acquisition of new knowledge. TheoreticalphysicistJim Al-Khalili believes the modern scientific method was pioneered by Ibn Al-Haytham (known in the Western world as “Alhazen”), whose contributions he likened to those ofIsaac Newton.[6]Robert Briffault, in The Making of Humanity, asserts that the very existence of science, as it is understood in the modern sense, is rooted in the scientific thought and knowledge that emerged in Islamic civilizations during this time.[7]/QUOTE]

Again you are overlooking the context here and going into victim mode, It would be helpful if you counter what was said with logic not by flirting with insecurities. Astronomy/Astrology has always played a big role in our country so much so that Secular Chacha Nehru had to follow this Hindu Nationalist point of view when he gave that independence speech. It's not our fault that some of our religious teaching gel well with science, we will promote those aspects and there is nothing wrong in acknowledging that. Unlike other religions we are open for debates and if there be a need we will change accordingly.

Well historical inaccuracy are needed to be corrected, what happened is needed to be told as it is without white washing the atrocities done by invaders.

Nope you are just playing victim and displaying your insecurities. We will promote and praise people/ideas/scientific achievements of people of this country irrespective of their religion. I guess you missed out how the country mourned the passing away of Kalaam.

They are so sad .Because none of them supports their Djinn Technology.

On topic . Panchang is nothing a small book full of mathematical calculations.I know some people ,non Hindus that also follow these book for certain purpose , some of them even know A to Z of Panchang and astrology .

About Pythagoras theorem.I think Shashi Tharoor already clarified that doubt in one of his article.
Kerala Muslims do follow astrology/jyothisham..There is one called 'Arabic jyothisham',popular in Malabar area, which is based on Arabic-Persian astrology, its founder is a Malayali Mappila ' moulavi usmaan hajji' from Wayanad..
