What's new

What can China learn from America's opioid/drug crisis?

.
What's different here is that this new drug epidemic is characterised by legal opioid drugs prescribed by doctors and encouraged by big pharmas.

There is no way to stop it.

Neither was there a way to stop the CIA smuggled drugs. The whole War on Drug (WOD) was mean to fleece the population of their tax money, the same as the War on Terror (WOT).

Yes.
That is the frontline of China's anti-drug campaign.
Tens of people both Chinese and foreigners receive death penalty every year in the nearby Yunnan Province.

It was the source of heroin during the Vietnam War. The CIA smuggled the drug in the body bags.

Now, it's Afghanistan.

Heroine and likes are expensive.
But opioid drugs are cheap and easy to get legally.

That's even more dangerous than heroine.

True. We also under drug threat from pseudo-science funded by big pharma companies and the legalization in the West. Yet there are liberals who glamourize the lives of drug-traffickers because they oppose the death penalty. That's really hypocrisy at the highest level. What about the lives of the victims?

Talks about examples and statistics from the US and Portugal which have legalized drug use.

What do we know about the opioid crisis?
  • Roughly 21 to 29 percent of patients prescribed opioids for chronic pain misuse them.6
  • Between 8 and 12 percent develop an opioid use disorder.79
  • An estimated 4 to 6 percent who misuse prescription opioids transition to heroin.79
  • About 80 percent of people who use heroin first misused prescription opioids.7
  • Opioid overdoses increased 30 percent from July 2016 through September 2017 in 52 areas in 45 states.10
  • The Midwestern region saw opioid overdoses increase 70 percent from July 2016 through September 2017.10
  • Opioid overdoses in large cities increase by 54 percent in 16 states.10

majority take drugs because of stress in life and depression.
No jobs, collapse of society, degeneration, healthcare cuts, war, materialism, interest/usury and so on.

In lots of cultures, stress and despair make people stronger and more willing to strive for a better future.

In China, it is a great virtue to work 100 times harder amid the lowest moment of your life. The majority of China’s richest people stem from the lowest class, unlike those old money heritage in the west.

Yeah that yucky place in East downtown Vancouver has a number of them.
"A 2013 study of SRO residents in the greater DTES area found that 18.4% were HIV positive and 70.3% were positive for hepatitis C." DTES is Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, avoid this place at all cost. It is more concentrated in certain blocks, with 1/3 of people being HIV positive.

There are thieves who specialise in these pharmaceutical break-ins and some pharmacists sell opioids under the table.

$1 million drug theft.

I like how they legalise those spirit-boosting drugs.

If you mean by spirit-boosting that it lowers a person's productivity and furthermore implants a conditioning in people's minds and body through addiction, then yes.
