1) Thanks GOD Pakistani government was not handed over to that Traitor ..Had it been the case he would had made us the satellite /colony of India..Same he did with Bangladesh..Agratala was proven and accepted by Mujib own cronies
2) Altaf Hussain will win the next election..Shall we hand over the karachi to him again ? By your logic yes since people choose him and if not people of karachi should call for independence and that will be legimitate ?
3) In 1966 there was no Yaha (although he was not innocent) ..What prompted Banglabudu to initiate six points ? Will you allow if Karachi, Sindh , Balochistan or any other province ask for :
a) Separate accounts for the foreign exchange earnings
b) East Pakistan or now Balochistan or KARACHI should have a separate military or paramilitary force??
c) Seprate currency for Karachi or Balochistan ?
Please tell me what else is the definition of separate country ?
Note:I didn't say all bengalis were traitor..So don't say this...
By the way all involved ( irrespective of boundaries) in that matter served justice by the nature or ...The last remaining stooge of this dynasty is what left now.....
1) What is a traitor? How do we define one. It is controversial whether Mujib was a traitor. Even if he was the situation needed to be handled with tact and extreme care. How we responded was like a bull rushing into a dinner party, seeing red blood everywhere. I don't understand how an entire ethnic group can be labelled a traitor.
Lets say Agartala proved that Mujib was a traitor, (Agartala is often labelled an attempt by ZAB to weaken Mujib), why did we have to send our army and use force when it was not required. It was as if we were throwing Bengal like a basketball to India and saying catch. Also there were legal ways to combat Mujib. If an entire ethnic group or east Pakistan in this case voted for him there was some fault among us.
Also how can you predict the future? How are you so sure the army, the people and the entire nation among them MM Alam, Nurul Amin and others would not resist an attempt to make Pakistan a colony of India. Again you are typing on the basis that all Bengalis were traitors, and this is a mistake in my view. Also even today when everything related to east Pakistan is lost for Pakistan Bengalis continue to express anti Indian sentiment.
We had control of the media, publications and other channels of news and this anti indian sentiment would be much higher before 71. So please lets not assume things about the Bengalis. There is no real difference in culture. I have eaten their rice and dal with fish and it is the best thing as well as a very similar thing to what we have in Karachi.
2) Though I hate Altaf I know the thinking of my relatives. They will keep supporting Altaf. The solution is to somehow tactfully see the problems MQM/Altaf have created. Even if this is not successful we cannot force them to accept a government they did not vote for. It will only give legitimacy to traitors like Syed Jamaluddin. These situations need to be handled very tactfully, otherwise an entire population can be alienated.
3) Desperation caused them to ask for 6 points which in my views are very valid. Let me explain before calling me a traitor. In 1940 and before we Pakistanis and even Jinnah were ready to stay in India if they granted us a number of things. Did we not ask for 14 points from India? Was it not better for India if they had accepted them and avoided the break up of the country? Similarly this applies to Bengal. Accepting those points was better than losing half our population. Autonomy is not a mistake, it is empowering a people.
a) No problem. Did you see the table for spending in East Pakistan and West and how pathetically it was skewed in favor of us west Pakistanis. Its easy to stick with the state narrative when you are on the bennefitting side as we west Pakistanis were.
b) If you look closely at these points you will notice there was no demand for separate military. The real demand was equal representation in the military of all ethnic groups. Bengalis did not even make up 10% of our army with half our population. If this wasn't a bias what was?
c) This was also not a clear demand. Mujib may have said it but it was impractical. It could possibly be challenged through the courts. But no need to get bogged down. Giving some rights is better than losing half the nation.
Conclusion: The six points btw were not set in stone. Even Mujib admitted he was willing to negotiate on them. Instead we threw him in jail on flimsy evidence. Still Mukti Bahini won. Very shameful for us. With an enemy the like of India we could not afford to sow divisions within ourselves. We did exactly that. It was like giving India Bengal in a plate.
Okay. So us Pakistanis are racists. But the bengalis have now got their own homeland. So there is no problem. The biggest mistake was making them a part of Pakistan in the 1st place.
I am not saying all Pakistanis are racist. I say some of the leaders and some common Pakistanis are.
As for this, how then do the British or French rule islands far away with an ethnic makeup far different from their own. This excuse that Bengalis are different from us is just that, an excuse to cover up our massive mistake. We have more in common with Bengalis than British have with Gibraltar, or the French with martinique or Reunion. The key to ruling territories far away is giving equal rights. None of these territories has anti British/French sentiment. Had we given Bengali a right as a regional language or treated the people fairly there would no problem at all. But since the death of Jinnah the problem was brushed under the carpet.
Also note even when we were under the British there was a type of acceptance of British rule. Had they not treated foreign lands as colonies rather than equal states and not made mistakes the type of which we made in Bangladesh they would still be ruling over us. Even the British army consisted mostly of foot soldiers from our own religion. Muslims made around 30% of their army. The elite wanted, above everything else to be granted British passports and learn English. The British failed only because they treated their territories is conquered colonies rather than give them respect. In the Pak Bengal aspect there are similar problems. When Dhaka fell our poverty fell because Bengal was divided. So it wasn't just about not accepting their government. We also made the mistake of imposing Urdu and not investing equally in the economic development of Bengal. Also there was a very poor response to the floods. We in short made the same mistakes India is making in Kashmir and British made during their rule of half the world.
Also please, it was Jinnahs decision to make Bengal a part of Pakistan. It was fitting as Bengal and Pakistan united wasthe largest muslim state in the world by population. Challenging the fact that Bengal was in a united Pakistan is like challenging Jinnahs decision. Lets not call Jinnah's decision to make Bengal a part of Pakistan a mistake.
We threw away what we had with our own hands. We have to acknowledge this to build anew.
