What about jf-17 for bangladesh airforce?

we all are hearing rumors about bangladesh airforce been intrested in jf-17.is there any source which confirms it?
what are the chances of BAF ending up purchasing jf-17?

Yes...there is source saying that BAF was 'evaluating' JF-17 Thunder....

It was in a PDF file and i have posted that long back here....but i do not have any recent info about it....

Personally, i feel Thunder should be a fantastic platform for a cash-strapped air force like ours....moreover, i do like the aircraft in terms of avionics and should have a good maneuverability as well i think....

Hummmm! Bangladesh is an interesting case in this regard.... A country with limited resources.... less then a billion in defence spending per annum.... Bought Mig 29s in previous Al govt.....Bought F-7 BGs around 2006....Now buying or rumored to buy more Fulcrums to complete a squadron strength... But would that serve the purpose? Specially when the neighbors are flexing their muscles and buying spree? No, probably not! looking at all the cards on hand... The Thunder no doubt looks the most promising prospect to a neutral eye... A low cost, low maintenance, strings free, 4th generation modern aircraft, coming to the spot light as it exhibits to prove itself as a mature platform with each day passing by .... Specifically designed to meat the requirements of the third world countries, who are always low on budget and cash starved but are forced to spend more on their defence!

While keeping the politics in center....The current Al govt may not want to go for thunders even if the BAF officials are in favor of it, and might opt for the Fulcrums again! Though the point here is not only to debate which aircraft is more competent but also which is going to fill in the numbers to serve the role it is purchased for!

However the thunder still has pretty good chances to end up in BAF.....Considering Bangladesh is a long time buyer of Chinese arms and BAF history goes beyond BGs,A-5s and F-6s. The thunder deal is further sweetened by the Credit Finance Facility that nowadays only the Chinese are offering around the globe.
So if a deal is in the pipeline for BAF acquiring Thunders it will be most probably with china....And not with Pakistan...For all the possible reasons...Anyhow I personally would like to see the Thunder in BAF colors!!

Great news if BAF will buy this aircraft.....this aircraft is really showing its wings in its early stage....and i am pretty sure in future, when it will be more developed and modernized, it will come to compare with F16 very soon....As JF-17 has ability to adopt modifications.

Many other nations like Egypt are interested in Thunder...,hence my guess is this bird should be good choice as of now, before we get any other warplanes....

The JFT has not even completed it's weapons integration yet, we people are too anxious to see it flying in the airforces of our friends, and it is understandable. But realistically, even China may go for the JFT(they originally agreed to buy 150 when the project began) only when the JFT is tested and integrated with a full array of A2A, A2G, A2S weapons and everything.

I think we would very likely see Bangladesh acquire some aircraft then, it makes good sense for them. I sincerely hope they do, and Inshallah they would, because it would be a very well-suited purchase.

I must say, Its The best Bangladesh Could get If they are planning for a Much Lethal force at the Same time a Cheap One in both Purchasing and maintaining.. JF-17 Has All the Qualities Integrated to It Which is needed for a 4th gen aircraft...

Anyways Bangladesh at present Is Not looking for an Air superiority Fighter for Which they have there Mig 29's, for Defensive Purposes JF-17 Is Enough for them

Yes, I also agree with you...in this concept and only then BAF will try to acquire the JF-17 but BAF has already started to evaluate it.

BAF is purchasing more F-7BG to replace the old F-7MBs and I think they are also looking to purchase more MiG-29s to handle the current gap.

Further more we are looking for new advance training aircrafts.

Bangladesh is looking for cheap but also high tech aircraft.There is news that Bangladesh will purchase J-10.I also heard that they will also bye Su-27/30.Untill this they will use F-7bg as a stop gap fighter.
