Western propaganda against Pak nuke program should stop: Musharraf

. .
Sources: U.S. assessing Pakistan nukes if Musharraf falls - CNN.com

The United States has full knowledge about the location of Pakistan's nuclear weapons, according to the U.S. assessment..

Like i said before if they where sure they knew saddam had weapons but where totally wrong.........why have so much faith that know where pakistans nukes.
Yeah they might know where a handful are.... so what

But the key questions, officials say, are what would happen and who would control the weapons in the hours after any change in government in case Musharraf were killed or overthrown.

Nothing would happen.......the same people will be sat there behind the same desks........what do you think ,that everything would collapse if mushy was killed.
Zia was killed.....life went on.

.
Like they knew where saddams WMD where.........

Dear dabong,

Good to see you. If you read my earlier posts you will note Iraq was a mistake where the world (ordinary people) were mislead to allow Bush to settle scores with saddam for his attempt to get his father assasinated.

However all EU intelligence agencies like the French, Germans including UK knew that there were no Nuclear weapons there and hence did not participate in the attack. Blair lost his job due to that.

However saddam did gas 10,000 Kurds which is also a wmd.

However it would be naive to believe that the US would not know where these nukes are located.

Regards

On the contrary, it would be naive to believe that worlds only muslim nuclear power would compromise the nuclear umbrella she fought so hard for and suffered decennia of economic, military and political sanctions to defend it.

We might aswell give up the programme and take billions of $$$ in reward!

.
Just to clarify. The US is not worried about Pakistan "Losing Track" of its nuclear weapons. Rather, it is concerned that thousands of armed men who are pretty much openly allowed to conduct millitia operations within the borders of Pakistan and have a seizable minority support in many regions(I don't think anyone here could argue with a number as conservative as say... 10-15% of the population) could steal one. All this talk about the US "Losing" nukes fails to see that there is no force outside of the US government operating in CONUS that has the power or interest necessary to kill dozens of armed guards, get on a b-52, and steal a warhead. The same cannot be said for Pakistan.

Dear Neo,

Hi. There are two different issues you have expounded.

Control of the Nukes

Location of the Warheads

The first is definately under Pakistan's control.

The second is easy to find out since nukes need to be stored in special facilities and US intelligence probably has some good moles and satellite info. Heck probably even pakistan knows where US nukes are stored.

^^^What a great attitude!
If the US can bungle up its nukes, Pakistan has every right to do so on a much larger scale!!
Impeccable reasoning Jana Ji!
I think what she meant was, first the US needs to control her nukes and then talk about controlling ours.

The only way it can control nukes are through our zardaris, mushys, sharifs.

People talk about location of Pak nukes like they are sitting in some silo with a bullseye on them.

Some are undoubtebly kept on mobile launchers, ready to be on the move.

You can't get em all. And remember the old Pak mantra. Anyone hits our nukes we hit everyone hostile back. So its pretty much in every hostile nation's interest to keep our nukes safe :).

We are very aggressive on our first use policy, imagine how we'd be on the second use policy :D. America is definitely asking for a few nukes to go off, if it attacks and doesn't finish the job.

Pakistan's warheads and missiles are stored separately.

Another thing...

These days a question is being asked of our leaders over n over.

Iran keeps shoving the finger in America's face after having close to nothing, and we're wussing out even after having nukes?

The only thing that has happened is that, the west is has made us more aggressive about our nukes and pretty soon this aspect of our public's mindset would be represented in our policy as well.

Yeah you signed off on that policy right?

If I was calling the shots up there, I would definitely keep a few ready to be used.

Pakistan has deployed nuclear tipped missiles at times of conflict with India, unless an American attack will be sudden, I think we're good.
