We’ll no longer let US generosity be taken advantage of’: Haley hails $285mn cut to UN budget

The biggest handicap and what makes the UN mostly ineffectiv is the veto right of 5 nations in the UNSC... after ww2 this 5 nations are the biggest warmongers on earth and with their veto right they could stop UN everytime to get into action against them.... as long as the rest of the world accept this the UN is ineffectiv... the rest of the world should stand up and say ...no longer... we dont accept your veto anymore... if they dont like what the majority of the world population wants they show their true dictatorship
I think US voluntary expulsion will set the stage for removal of veto as it again and again stops action on key issues including Syria and Palestine

Absolutely China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Japan would be fools for not taking advantage of the opportunity to throw their weight around in the UN.

Let's talk when more is known about their intentions in this regard, shall we?

If it is in their national interest they will definitely pay.:D Iqbal thinks it is in their National interest :Dand you have your doubts and think no one /group can replace your USA.:D

Please see the above. :D

Apparently there are some individuals here who seem to have a lot of power. The power to basically know for 100% sure what countries will or will not do.

Okay, now back to the real world and outside the PDF fantasy bubble.

Complete speculation and nothing more until something actually happens.

pakistanis have more faith in chinese govt than even Chinese !!

Spiteful behaviour.

Trump should keep his promise to leave the United Nations and stop being a crybaby.

Exactly. Why not just leave the UN if it is so unfair? LOL at the fake budget cut move.

The world is sick and tired of this orange clown.

The funny thing is that so-called allies of US and Israel didn't even vote for their cause LOL

India being the biggest backstabber of all. So much for all the rhetoric amounting to hot air.

Where are all the Jewish members of PDF? Still unable to answer why they got backstabbed by their ally India?

U dont have 20 trillion worth of loans for nothing kid.
Debt is an inescapable reality of modern economies. Every economy has accumulated debt over the course of years.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/268177/countries-with-the-highest-public-debt/

However, not sure if debt-related statistics matter much or risks are exaggerated. Over 70% of American national debt is public debt; ownership of US Treasury bills, notes and bonds across the world.

In-fact, Chinese debt is also climbing at an alarming rate. Wait till a chunk of Chinese population becomes aged. Heck, wait for purchases of Chinese Treasury bills, notes and bonds.

Productivity is the way forward. As long as employment rate is good, circulation of money is good, obligations are being met - all good.

However, stay away from "credit card."

In-fact, the scary part is that some Americans are calling for the US state to stop rescuing Capitalism from crashes and reboot the global financial order. Keep in mind that the US has largest reserves of GOLD in the world.

There should be no veto at all..everything should be decided by UNGA on majority basis.
Big 5 won't like this. :-)

UN without US will harm US interests more than UN
This is a misconception.

UN stops any country from going overboard in pursuit of its national interests at the expense of the other. It is like a pressure group.

US outside UN is like an un-caged lion, free to do its bidding at the expense of others.

I wonder if UN will meet the fate of League of Nations?

It would be FREE-FOR-ALL afterwards.

But USA never follows UN if it don't suits. Iraq is an example.

Well, they may know something others do not, myself included.

USA has undergone cycles of withdrawal and engagement internationally in the past too. This may be another one of them. The world adapts and goes on regardless.

It may not be a bad thing necessarily.

Like yeah.. I could just see the leaders of the UK, Japan, Russia or China in high-level meetings say something like "well before we make any decisions about the UN or anything else, we have to consult with several members on the PDF forum"

Let's be real here.. These people are just expressing what they would want them to do. That doesn't mean that those countries will do that.

These folks can't say for certain X, Y or Z will do this or do that. Just a few people here who are playing keyboard politicians and Generals doing a lot of speculating. And speculating is exactly what it is.

These members have every right to express their opinions, but they have absolutely no power or influence to make these countries do one thing or the other.

Agree or disagree, that's just my two cents on the matter.
