People who spent millions in marriages,waste food etc will continue to do so. How can a government that spend Rs.8000/-per plate on a ceremony ban this?

Its really a big shame ... this amount of money is wasted in wedding food when rural places have problems for getting enough food & safe drinking water.

Also such lavish marraiges are the places where black money is turned white.

Government should set norms for marraige expenses & should monitor all the money spent in such marraiges.

i guess thts the difference in Pak-india like in Pakistan ppls mostly condemm wastage of food & if someone do it(weddings) with simplicity people apriciate them.....i guess these are the deffierences in our societies on which two nation theory is based it seems small issues but really big for those who face it....

Exactly what went through my mind. So much food gets wasted owing to poor storage solutions. It seems to me the attempt here is "to pass the buck".

Its nothing but cheap socialist rhetoric. As long as we are not an utopian socialist country where govt dictates everything to their citizen, people have the right to celebrate as per their capacity without breaking any laws. Today its the size of the wedding party, tommorrow it may be the size of the house and car bcs the less fortunates are not able to afford it. Yes the wastage of the food should be condemned, but then again its more to do with our culture where we don't know the exact nos of guests till the wedding day forcing the family to over prepare.

Yes we have them here in big numbers ... but they don`t distribute the food in others, they simply eat it...

In most of the indian wedding u never know how many guest will arrive therefore there is always some amount of food wasted...but a system can be eplimented where leftover food from weddings are collected and served to the beggers and send to charity homes...retricting wedding spendings is not the sollution to curve hunger but proper storage facility...lack of storage facilities and mismanagement is the cause....billions worth food of is wasted by the gov due their inabilty to build those infrastructures
