Yes, the media has such unprecedented power to shape and change people's opinions and perceptions, it is simply too powerful to be left without any government oversight and regulation. Otherwise, it can easily end up getting used by dubious players for all manner of malicious designs. This also applys, to an extent, to educational institutions like universities colleges etc. as student activism has often been historically involved in revolutionary agitation.
