Waziristan - Before and Now - Must watch

. . .
Stunning !!

I wish we could change whole Pakistan like this. People need development. Would people in Balochistan have to rebel against state to get such development ?????

Well done PA :pakistan: . I am strong critic of PA when they interfere in civil issues, but must praise this. Completely change the face and future of Waziristan.

Not to forget the state of Pakistan's role in merging FATA with main stream KPK.

I understand your views, but you have to remember, everything has its time and place. Before the tribal's did not want any state involvement in the tribal areas, only after all these problem, and tribal chief's getting killed by the Taliban did they accept Pakistani states help.

Similar situation stands in Baluchistan, but you can see change happening there too, state needs resources to help, but above all it needs peoples permission to go in and make changes.

I am sure you are aware of the powers of Baluchistan tribal chiefs, and the A areas and B areas system, that Musharraf tried to change but because of the backlash it could not happen.

So I do understand it is good to be critical, but I think it's also important to offer fair analysis. Be kind :) and stay blessed.

This is a misconception that tribal chiefs don't want development. I categorically deny that, and I challenge you to quote one statement from any tribal leader in Balochistan who is against education, development, health care, safe drinking water, employment opportunities.

At the same time, the tribal culture has long gone now. Nawabs, Sardars and Meers are now more of symbolic titles now. Yes they are rich and some of them are corrupt.

But the local people of Balochistan a poor shepherd in Bolan or Jhal magsi, a farmer in Qila Abdullah or Awaran , a school teacher in Khuzdar or Zhoob needs attention of state of Pakistan. When they don't get rights, some one picks up gun and we know what follows next.

Do you the know the Human Development Index in Balochistan is worse than Africa?? The literacy rate is the lowest in the entire subcontinent ???

Every time I have this discussion people wash their hands off by blaming the tribal leaders.

Yes I am aware of those facts and agree, it is shameful.

But The tribal chiefs are not going to make those statements in the press. but it is an accepted fact that they had complete control before, and still do to a lesser degree, which played an important role in reduced development. You acknowledge they are rich and corrupt, that happened because of control over their areas and the development funds.

I used to have a friend, a doctor, who is a Balochi, although I am no longer in touch with him, life moves on and he lives far away, so I can attest to first hand knowledge of what I say. Plus other things which I have read and not saved, because I did not know one day I will be having a discussion on PDF lol

But you recognise the difference between the past and the present, people are changing now, so it is also important to recognise that development is not like snapping your fingers, it is a process, but it is important to remember that development process certainly in regards to Baluchistan has started. That's important. Be positive yaar, recognise tu karr lo kuch :)
