They could not buy grease nipples needed to cool the EW unit, because the US manufacturer of the grease nipples was bought by another company.
This forced a requalification of the manufacturer.
Before it was again qualified, no parts could be delivered.
If/when Germany meets their committment to reach 2% of GDP by 2024, they should have zero
problems getting enough spares.
Right now they are spending 44B$ and 1,2% of GDP.
An increase to 2% will result in almost 30B$ added to the budget.
