Boy, aren't you an expert on Indo-Russ relations
And what enemy are you talking about? India? Myanmar? Yeah, other than tough talking, our military can't really even imagine going into war with those countries. Myanmar boasts the most advanced air-defense system in the region, which we don't have.
The $18 million per piece is the investment cost. There are other costs, such as spares and ammunition. What about the returns on that investment?
Russia and India are still developing their own 5th generation aircraft exclusively for the IAF. Those SU-30s are still good and the Indian Navy ordered a naval version of the MIG-29. Indo-Russ relations are still good. Just because the Indians chose European jets instead of the MIG-35 don't mean the whole house is going down as far as Indo-Russ relations go.
My point is that the MIG-29 is just wasteful as far as Bangladesh is concerned. Sure, it is cheap, but expensive to maintain. And we aren't self sufficient on spare parts and ammunition for the MIG-29, meaning all that have to be procured from Russia. Each air-to-air missile has a shelf life of 2.5 years.
And since it is the Russian MIG-29, would you consider the chances of the Russians giving off the source codes to the Indians? I know I would. It would be a disaster if they go into combat with the IAF.
There is a reason why MIG-29s are rarely seen flying the skies of Bangladesh. In fact, during the BNP administration, they seriously considered selling them off.
The reason for India buying so many toys is mainly because of China. We don't have any stake in Indo-Sino hostilities. As far as we are concerned, all we have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the show put up by the Indians and the Chinese (no offense).
The sooner they are sold off, the better. There are more pressing issues in Bangladesh than a bunch of fighters!
Not being biased, just stating the facts.
Wow that was funny lmfao.

Bangladesh is to close to India to be attacked..just like no one can attack Canada and get away without US intervening.A mthreat to your nation is a threat to our security as well.

I have no wish to answer your bias. But, I must say that when the day arrives and an enemy country attacks our country, the people will find out ball-less impotents like you holding enemy flags in hands, and would cut you off then and there. Do not preach for my country, but pray for yourself before that day of reckoning comes. Before we fight the enemy we will certainly slash throats of guys like you. Just stop your bias against our armed forces.
1. Study of centuries' of history tell us that the only threat that the Brahmaputra-Ganges Delta has ever encountered originated from the West. To be precise, whenever the power in Delhi or the power in Hindi/Hindu heartland was strong, it sought to subjugate the people living East of the Rajmahal Hills. This subjugation has been political, economic and cultural.
2. This historical truth hasn't changed after we have become independent. We still perceive a slow but sure process of the same phenomenon continuing pushed forward by the Brahmonic Oligarch now in power at Delhi. BD has, therefore, to remain alert and strong - internally, militarily and through ties and alliances with nations like China, Indonesia, other S Asan neighbors and the Ummah at large.
3. The present problem with Burma originates from discovery of gas in the Bay. Never in history has Burma been a threat to our national security or sovereignty. This is in spite of the fact that present BD also contains Northern Arakan (Sylhet, Chittagong & Barisal Divs). We also have the Arakan issue. Geographically, historically, ethnically and culturally, Arakan is closer to BD than Burma which has always been taken as the invader by the Arakanese.
India is a shark and you are a fish...stay beside us you will stay safe..confront us you will be devoured.
Switzerland has a small but a well rounded military. Its not like they don't have one.
Or else what eastwatch? YOU or they gonna kill me? Ever heard of freedom of speech? Maybe you are incapable of comprehending just what it is. And yet you are free to insult Hindus here
You haven't read my post carefully have you? Because I don't see any correlation from you countering the points I have made. What about your point regarding Russian fury over India's decision to choose European jets instead of the MIG-35? Haven't touched that one have you? And you are saying I am biased? So the point of your post is: I am ball-less and a cowardly b@stard?
You should get a prize or something for personal attacks. You seem to be really good at it
The bottom-line is, we don't need to operate expensive jets to address national security issues at the moment.
And sadly, I don't see any point and for anyone else for that matter to debate with you.
India is a shark and you are a fish...stay beside us you will stay safe..confront us you will be devoured.
