Was Hagia Sophia built over a pagan temple?

Well known fact a lot of churches were built upon pagan temples.

People dont realise recycling is better than building a whole new building

Exactly, a lot of Mosques in Europe are basically abandoned Churches and the priests prefer the Church to be turned into a Mosque than a bar or disco

Is that true ?

The original church on the site of the Hagia Sophia is said to have been built by Constantine I in 325 on the foundations of a pagan temple.
