Was F6 a twin engine jet?

Yes the F-6 was a twin engine jet, in fact it was the first twin engine fighter to enter PAF service.
The F-6s in PAF service were very distinctive machines.
The aircraft was designed by Russians built by the Chinese, it was wired by PAF engineers to fire American Sidewinder Missiles, the pilot sat on a British Martin Baker Ejection seat, it carried French electronics and countermeasures and fired 30mm projectiles produced by POF.

Because the F-6 had short range, the PAF experimented with conformal fuel tanks on the F-6 called Gondolas which were attached to the belly of the aircraft,however this prevented the airbrake from being deployed.

That as pointed out by the members here is an F-6C, Pakistani modified J-6, which itself was a copy of the Soviet Mig-19. This particular airframe belonged to the No.23 "Talons" Squadron.

And Currently that talon squadron operates F7p jets( mig21) .Talon squadron operated F6 until 2002. So the jet I shared last flew in 2002. Once roaring in the skies is now sitting on a road side with old frame and detached wings.

PAF kept on flying this kachra till 2001. this shows how handicapped PAF was in kargil war. flying F6s and A5s and 32 F16s without spares.

That is even more wonderful. Shooting down Mig-21 with a F-86 Sabre is a feat. Gives me comfort to know that Rafales won't do IAF much good.

one kill didnt make sabre superior to mig 21. it could have been due to pure luck, extra ordinary tactics by the sabre pilot and some mistake by the mig pilot. there are incidents when F-6 locked F-16 in DACT but it doesnt make F-6 superior to 16. the pilot is better air craft has more chances of winning an air battle.

Update:
After a thorough search I found out that the above F6 jet from the graveyard belonged to 25th squadron.The exact jet with serial no 10602 stationed at PAF base mianwali in February 1992.

It might as well have served multiple squadrons and was retired when serving the "Talons" as the Night Strike Eagles have been operating Mirages since 1996. This airframe was also stored in the PAF Museum Junkyard till a couple years ago.

Mig19 was a challenging aircraft, however, once mastered it was a handful against most adversaries. Good power to weight ratio compared to its peers in those days and that thundering 30 mm. Unlike what is being said by some on this forum it was not a pilot killer, just required some time to master. In fact the Mig 19 had a very good safety record with the PAF. It served the 23rd squadron and others really well, though I will admit by 2002 (when it was finally retired) it was past its peak combat effectiveness vis-a-vis what it was to face in the battlefield.

Eject,Eject,Eject but the ejection seat was jammed on the other side and the mother Earth was approaching fast. What a horrible moment.
But the cannon was 30 mm most powerful and accurate at best.

And this beautiful painting was made none other than Gp Capt retired hussaini .His house is few streets away from my house.

Hussaini sb's painting are quite lovely and capture the scenery quite well.
