I hate to say but I agree with you here...

Sometimes development is confused with erecting concrete jungle without having a plan. Just haphazard construction of tall buildings without wide roads, natural green space, wide markets, proper pavements for pedestrians is not development. It is just a competition.

Thats why I like american towns. Not only they are taller, but also much planned and beautifully designed.

it's awe-inspiringly ugly.

the neo-rich middle classes of india and china think development means a clutter of ugly tall buildings.

um.Chongqing is relatively poor city among all Chinese cities.

I do not know that many foreigners like Chongqing city before I enter international forum.
Then I still don't know why.

And plz notice that Chinese cities have suburbs,those are just economic centers.Not apartment,okay?
Last,Chongqing is surrounded by mountains,they have to build tall buildings.
Chongqing isn't enough big for everyone to build big house.
Suburbs houses are always cheaper in Chinese cities,but few people choose to live in suburb.My family's apartment in Wuhan can buy about 3 houses in suburb.(but we only have one house in suburb.)
