Want some locomotives?

let the next govt come soon, we will make our own
we have engine manufacturing setup and its sitting idle while choor bloor want to buy some from any country thats willing to fill his pockets

india needs cash
more than that I'm worried about MMs dont end up gifting the locomotives at the indian taxpayers expense.Last time he did spend indian taxpayer's money to install solar panels in his village at gah in pakistan and gives lecture to indians on prime time tv that money dont grow on trees.

Any idea what kind of engines the Pakistanis need? Diesel or electric ? Power specifications?

Pakistan certainly would not not receive the blue engine ( wdp-4) as shown in pic earlier because it does not need a 4000-4500 hp engine, so why waste money on leasing a more powerful loco.

Most probably it is going to receive a mixture of wdm-2 and wdm-3a locos.
Wdm-2 is rated at 2600 hp and wdm-3a is rated at 3100 hp. With continous improvement and upgrades in their decades of service, the fuel efficiency has been considerably enhanced and maintainence cost vastly reduced compared to their original models. I think they will suit pakistan railways in this make shift arrangement till their problem of acute shortage of locos and spares is solved.

I think Karachi's circular railway should replace these loco povered trains

I have heard that Pakistan railways tried to take 50 locomotives on lease from China, but the deal could not go through as all weather friend China demanded an unbearable cost of $2,600 per locomotive per day.

By the looks 2nd pic looks like DMU. I dont know how are you saying that they will change their diesel locos with EMUs which stands for electric multiple units. We have DMUs in Delhi,Mumbai in lesser no of routes which are very efficient but that routes are not main routes. Pakistan should go for 10-12 car DMU sets.

A train composed of DMU cars scales well as it allows extra passenger capacity to be added at the same time as motive power. It also permits passenger capacity to be matched to demand, and for trains to be split and joined en-route. It is not necessary to match the power available to the size and weight of the train - each unit is capable of moving itself, so as units are added, the power available to move the train increases by the necessary amount. Distribution of the propulsion among the cars also results in a system that is less vulnerable to single-point-of-failure outages. Many classes of DMU are capable of operating with faulty units still in the consist. Because of the self contained nature of diesel engines, there is no need to run overhead electric lines or electrified track, which can result in lower system construction costs.
