Wang Yi: China-India Strategic Cooperative Partnership Is Gathering Pace
On 25 September 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid of India at the UN headquarters, New York.
Wang Yi said that this is our fourth meeting since the beginning of this year. Each time, we witness China-India relations gathering pace and unceasingly making new progress. Premier Li Keqiang paid his first visit to India not long ago and broad consensus was reached with fruitful outcomes. It has injected strong impetus into the future development of bilateral relations. Both sides are now making every effort to implement the outcomes of the visit, to deepen practical cooperation, to enhance mutual trust, to push for the resolution of outstanding issues, and to focus on promoting the construction of China-India-Myanmar-Bangladesh corridor, railway as well as industrial park cooperation.
Wang Yi said that China and India are both big countries. They are the largest developing nations as well as the most populous countries. They shoulder major responsibilities for safeguarding global peace and security. The two countries share the same or similar views on quite a number of international and regional issues. China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with India on Syrian crisis, Iranian nuclear issue and other international hotspot issues.
Khurshid expressed that India-China relationship is one of the most important bilateral relations in the world. Both sides are actively implementing the important consensus reached during Premier Li Keqiang's visit to India and are seriously planning for the development of bilateral relations in the near future. India and China share similar positions as well as similar concerns on major international and regional issues, and have extensive common interests.
