Visa woes: Singapore blocks visas to Indian IT professionals (ache din agaye hain:)

.
You are as optimistic as ever optimistic NASSCOM India...next one year will tell which way its is heading.
I am hearing this for last two years. I am a student btw. Issue is that there a lots of jobs but you have to know the right skills. Data science, mobile, reactive web, cloud those kind of skills. These head hunters are still stuck in the era of Java/JSP/Business Analyst/Project Manager/Manual Testers. Sure if you are one of those your position is being eleminated and you have re-learn stuff.

I have a feeling that jobs are like dust. When you blow them, they settle elsewhere.

Good point here....most of the job lost seems to be in the BPO sector, with cloud computing and cutting edge new IT tech, taking the toll, like 100 people are now required instead of say 1000...there has to be lay offs.

Also read that most of the lay offs are of persons above 35-40 year of age, where the chances of learning new tech. becomes an incumbency factor and is pretty low...hence taken by young blood.

Your point about jobs in data science, mobile, reactive web, cloud those kind of skills is true...the thing is say 10,000 techies are laid off by Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant India...they will certainly hire 1000 new techies equipped with all the new nitty gritty of IT, tech savvy people, hence your point about people are being hired and not as reported in the NDTV report...it is about replacement.

If you look at the growth rate in new recruitment and the number of people being fired...

Well sir, thing with technology is when it expands, it looks for more frontiers. I know in past only big businesses/banks could have afforded their custom mobile apps or web ordering systems. These days anyone and everyone wants a mobile app or e-commerce platform. Meaning more opportunity. Before no-one bothered with things like 'Rental Heat Maps'. Now every real estate site wants one. Who will collect data for them? Who will clean it? Who will write models for it? Who will make new shiny UIs? Thats atleast 100 jobs which were not there! And thats only one type of rentals.

35-40 is a myth or an excuse. When there is crunch of talent, employers hire literally anyone who can fit the bill. Also, unless you dont throw someone in water they cann't learn swimming. This is a time of flux. Few will drown but a good chunk will learn to swim.. may be in a different stroke. I have heard that in battle desperation sometimes produce astonishing results. If these folks will get desparate enough, they will bite the bullet and learn enough to get their job done.

AI will replace all
AI? LOL!

You know, the current growth in AI is fuelled mainly by advancements in an area of machine learning (ML) called Deep Learning.

There are two fundamental limitations to AI solution. One is a theoratical one and another practical one.

1. The theoratical one is called 'No Free Lunch Theorem'. Which limits creation of a 'Universal ML/AI'. Also it dictates how well an ML/AI can work on a large set of generalized unknown inputs. Meaning you need a different AI architecture for different sets of problems. So, as many IT jobs AI takes away, it will also have to a larger number of jobs in return. Jobs which are focused around developing and training new AI.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_free_lunch_theorem

2. The other reason which limits AI is a practical reason, the lack of large training data for a vast number of problems. Combined with the above reason it calls for more and more training data, a lot of which labelled to create working ML/Deep Learning based AI. It takes a aweful amount of data to successfully train AI for mundane tasks like reading comprehension. And that Data needs to be labelled. For a lot of tasks such data simply does not exists. This fundamentally slows how fast AI can be developed.

So you need new AI architecture for reach class of problems. DCN works great for images and RNN works great for Language processing. Also, you need vast amount of labelled data for training. All of them call for huge manual effort initially and beyond.

And I have not touched upon the new avenues which AI opens in AI assisted tasks. All in all, again time/technology has moved jobs / is moving jobs not removing them.

Indians are simply just too uncivilized to have learnt simple hygiene manners. The entire nation is out there crapping in the open and the world is now fully aware of this. Hell even the Africans hide behind some leaves.
I guess you have never been or lived in Mainland China?

.
Let me make this clear. In so far as Pakistan is looked on as infested with terrorism and no amount of contrary pleading is going to change that perception, India is looked down as the "open pooping capital" of the world. Indians are simply just too uncivilized to have learnt simple hygiene manners. The entire nation is out there crapping in the open and the world is now fully aware of this. Hell even the Africans hide behind some leaves.

So get used to being Pooping champions of the world - India shining indeed !
I guess you have never been or lived in Mainland China?
We have boorish behavior in every country.
What @Kaptaan means is the scale of uncivilized behavior in India is beyond compare.
600+ million Indians shitting everywhere is mind boggling.

this could only happen in INCREDIBLY FILTHY INDIA.

Singapore has realised most of Indian IT is garbage hence the pull back. You need 4 people from these company to do the work of 1 good person.

Crows finally come home to roost. They have gotten away with this for a long time.
