Ashwin has a better temparament, is a better catcher in the slips, is a bowler on his own. He has opened for Tamil Nadu and has all the shots in the book and plays the pull easily. I rate him higher as a pure batsman than Vijay.

To be honest, reading the comments in cricinfo, there is anti-TN mindset in many of comments. People critizing Vijay (I dont blame them for criticizing him), Ashwin, Badri (When he hardly got a chance) but ignoring No-Hit Sharma just cos of his talent.
This tendency have become more cos of CSK, and their winnings. Manoj Tiwary (one of the best domestic player) had been sidelines in favour of Ajinkya , Pankaj Singh, Wasim Jaffer have all been sidelined. Time for a neutral moderation of comments from that site.
Ashwin is a better No.6 batsmen, in place of Raina.
