A recent market study has found Vietnam to be the biggest beer-drinking nation in Southeast Asia, consuming nearly 2.6 billion liters last year.

Thailand was second at 1.8 billion liters, Vietnam News Agency said Monday quoting UK-based market research firm Euromonitor International.

People in the Philippines drank over 1.6 billion liters to rank third.

Myanmar recorded the lowest volume of 30.4 million liters.

Vietnam was also among the world's top 25 beer-consuming nations last year, according to a report by Kirin Holdings Co., a major Japanese brewer, earlier this year.

Of the top 25 nations, consumption rose highest in Nigeria (17.2 percent), followed by India (17 percent), Brazil (16 percent), and Vietnam (15 percent).
