skyscrapers are shredders. hope enough compares can afford such buildings.here in shenzhen the rent is about 400 rmb per month*sqm
400 yuan is 58 dollar!

you have humor. Rent is usually 15 dollar a m2 per month in expensive german cities such as Frankfurt and Munich. But you pay more in Shenzhen? Well, unless Chinese wages are higher than I thought of.

.
Are you bullshhitting? For a place of 50 sqm and it is 3000 usd a month? Beijing has the highest salary in china and it is just under 20k usd a year and now you are telling us rent is 3k a month in shenzhen?. Not even in orange county where i live rent is that high.
U.S is very cheap in terms of housing and commericial cars. you do have ultra expensive luxurious apartments or villa in handful fancy areas, but in general, housing costs in Chinese coastline cities are higher compared to the U.S or West in general.
a hint, I have properties at the heart of Canary Wharf CBD, London, for example a two flats apartment, the current market price is 700,000-800,000 Sterlings, and I settled in Hangzhou, China 2 years ago, bought a similar sized apartment, not in downtown nor suburb, somewhere in the middle, it costs me over a million US dollars (this is the market price 2 years ago)```with that money I can buy a spacious house in a decent area in London around zone 2-3``

400 RMB p/m2/m is expensive rent, but at Senzhen's CBD (Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou's CBD are at the same range) the price is not that staggling, around top 40%. the rentals are usuallly around 230-350 RMB p/m2/m range.
in other tier 2-3 cities, CBD rental ranges from 100-200 RMB p/m2/m

btw, these are commerical office rental not residential which are much cheaper

I wonder where you got the money for such property investment. I am a poor guy.

Ok office rental. Comparing to 20 dollar you pay per m2 in an expensive city of Germany you pay a lot more in Chinese major cities. That is not necessary an advantage for companies doing business in China.

the work force is cheaper than average western counterparts, in big cities they are around 50-70% of what the western white collar earns, in other cities are like 30-50%```so when you taking this factor into consideration, then China still has the advantage.
the notion and purpose of doing business or having operation units in China swayed from cost factor to market factor since the begining of this decade. having physical operation units in China is the only way to blend in and therefore to gain market share```besides, China now is becoming the leading force of innovation and industrial designing, as we are moving up to the chain very quickly. not to mention China is already the biggest consumer of luxury goods like top-end clothing, jewelly, house appliance, cars and digital gadget

Well that will add to overall labor cost and be only sustainable if you are successful in increasing labor productivity and percentage of service and hightec industries. All simple manufacturing jobs will disappear within a decade. Good luck.

omg````factories for lower end products do not locate in CBD or downtown areas````

I have never met a single real German who lacks basic critical thinking skills.

I haven't said simple manufacturing jobs will disappear in downtown areas. I say all simple manufacturing jobs will disappear in China within a decade. See the difference?

Great to see supertalls (>300m buildings) being built in SEA. Singapore still has to wait for quite awhile for a supertall.

really? Singapore does not lack of money. this one building is interesting thing too. landmark 81 tower (461m), 18 storey is complete. the tower and other low rise buildings should be complete end of next year.

Yep. We are losing out to other ASEAN cities in terms of supertalls and megatalls. Our tallest is currently only 290m under construction because of a military airbase nearby. The government is planning to move away the airbase by 2030, hence removing the height limit in our downtown area.

They have already reserved a plot of land for the supertall though to complement the existing skyline in the future.

See an awkward gap between the buildings in the center left of the photo?

Looks similar to Burj Khalifa in Dubai, currently the world's tallest building.

I see. Rental rate for commercial office not residential. If the median home price in hangzhou is 1 mil more and hangzhou salary on average is just 10k usd/year, then how can the average chinese joe buy one? There is some missing elements in the home affordability factor in china here. In america if you want to buy a home the home price can't be 5 times more than your annual household income.
